How to fix Ford F150 loose fuel door

I repaired the loose fuel door on my F150 Ford truck. This was going to be a great video, until, I screwed up somehow. I think there is enough info though to help folks get this job done.

I bought my used 2012 F-150 XL Ecoboost with the broken gas door hinge. The dealer agreed to fix it. I had a friend that later bought a F-150 with the same problem. I went to show him how the hinge is suppose to work and ... SNAP!... mine broke again!!
Been that way for a while.

Easy enough fix, been using velcro to hold it closed! Why hasn’t ford recalled considering this issue with so many?

THANKS!! I fixed it in 10 minutes!! The only thing I would recommend, is taking blue painter's tape, and tape off around the edges of the gas take door. That way you don't accidentally chip your paint! Worked great for me and no chips or scratches.

Thank you for this! mine was the exact same problem and your instruction allowed me to fix this in about 30 minutes. The toughest part was getting to and releasing the clips from the inside of the body. I resorted to prying it out from the outside but it all went back together perfectly!

Appreciated this video to go along with the others. I think this was the only one that included those easy instruction for removing the painted plastic cover. That step kept me from possibly chipping the paint. Thank you.

I just fixed my fuel door this past weekend.
What I did was cross drill a 1/16” hole in the pin and inserted a hairpin cotter pin in the shaft. Fit perfectly without risking splitting the pin and definitely will not walk out again.

This happened once already on my 2010 around 70, 000 miles. Dealership charged me $180 to fix it. Happened again at 109, 000. Using this video, I removed it, fixed the metal coil that became disconnected, put it back in. Took me about 15 minutes (first time) and didn't cost me a dime. Door fixed! FYI... new assembly on Amazon is $37. Didn't need that this time.

I like a fix that doesn't cost anything but a little time. Fords have their issues just like Dodge or a Chevy. I've had to replace one blend door as well on my 05 Chevy truck and your right, $600 was hard to pay! I like your repair videos but that costs you money so I'll watch the cooking videos too.  :)
