Those words just really hit me. I'm a perfectionist, i'm starting to quit my dreams, i dropped out of college, all because of my depression which stems from my perfectionism. But he's kinda right, i mean, not doing it is making me feel worse than doing it badly. Maybe i should pick up my dreams again, huh.

This is gold. There will always be someone that appears to be doing better than you, and there will always be people doing worse than you.
If you always focus on those doing better you will struggle to stay positive, and if you focus on who you are doing better than you will lose humility and the drive to improve.
Focus on improving who you are by listening to those who know more and helping those who know less than you.
