What if Russia Was MORE Competent in WW1?

Watch this video if you want to see big Russian Empire, which was possible if the Russians were competent in the First World War.

Making Russia competent would be quite difficult and we would need to change a lot for this to succeed, but it is possible. Let us not forget that Russia lacked military victories, lost millions of men, suffered a famine, a provisional government, a communist revolution and then a civil war.

Fixing Russia and preventing these problems would be difficult, but I have enough information to give you a very plausible answer.

A successful Brusilov Offensive would have definitely helped Russia’s prestige and end WW1 earlier

There was also French plans for after the war where Germany is dissolved but both the British and the American refused so maybe in this timeline this treaty is possible

I can only imagine the Germans faces after seeing battalions of Slav squatting Russians listening to hard bass as they charge forward.

Why didn't Russia just use the hoi4 Dniper line strategy are they stupid or something?

I'm dying to know what this accent is. I assumed something Slavic, but the slight mispronunciation of Russian words refutes that lol

Russia actually was doing very good in ww1 if the provisional government haven't took power things would have ended differently.

I’m actually so thankful for how everything played out in ww1 and ww2. Even if Romania no longer has Bessarabia, atleast we still have a majority of all regions.

The end result is interesting, but a competent Russian empire in WW1 is good (unlike the real one in WW1)

Hungary having a full-blown rebellion against Austria in the middle of WW1 is an interesting idea for me. I imagine it would give the Entente reason to be more merciful towards Hungary now that they'd been a de-facto ally instead of a defeated half of an enemy. It's a general alternate history scenario I'd like to see more of.

Russia did do well in WW1, like all powers they had setbacks but there enemies were overstretched and they had considerable staying power. The stereotype of Russia in ww1 partly comes from the mismanagement of the military that started under the provisional government and majorly because of Soviet propaganda.

Historians think that without the revolution the war probably would have ended in 1917, indeed this was a motivation for the revolution, victory would lead to the political death of liberalism, the Tsar would most likely have used his reinforced position to get rid of the political concessions, on top of this Britain and France were heavily involved, they wanted Russia to transition over to liberalism and were terrified of Russia owning Constantinople and thus breaking out of the black sea into into the Mediterranean. The ottoman empire had long been propped up by the rest of Europe for this exact reason.

The revolution had considerable organisational support from Britain, once it happened however the duma quickly proved themselves clowns, they introduced democracy to the army, gave contradictory orders and sidelined skilled officers and generals as politically suspect, they also allowed the enemies to the left to set up parallel government organisations. Even before Lenin overthrowing their government was mostly a matter of getting troops to the capital, railway workers were a considerably more effective force in the preservation of the government than any military one.

Russia could have fought the war on better terms, but to do this they would have had to have had different people in leadership positions, the Tsar lacked initiative and was overly suggestable, and to be frank if that or the quality of higher officials were better then not only would Russia have beaten Japan in 1904 but Russia probably would have allied with Germany given that that is explicitly what Tsar Nicholas and Kaiser Wilhelm had wished for, being close friends, and politically similar in their views.

The other method would be reform of the army system, but to be frank that would have taken a genius imbued with unchecked power and a pretty good idea of how things would pan out and which senior officers were reliable.

For the most part was the revolution, a junta plot by high ranking generals, the poor quality of the garrison of st Petersburg and the lack of a man of action on the ground nearby that spelled doom for Russia's military effort. As a purely military force they showed themselves more than capable.

Rasputin influence on the Romanov’s is greatly exaggerated. He was just a convenient scape goat.

Honestly, I enjoyed this video more than your other recent videos! Idk what it was, this was just better I guess! This could really use a part two, either detailing what Russia did in Asia during this video, or an outright sequel scenario! I said it once and I will say it again, I really like this new map! Great video, keep it up man!
