Using x1 and x2 to simplify the comprehension of the problem.  Note that the area is contained within the two curves and the x-coordinate of each is represented by x1 and x2

Many years ago, when at school, I would have lost points in an exam, for not adding "sq. units" after the answer "4.5".

that's odd. i plugged in int y+2-y^2 dy from -1 to 2 for wolfram alpha and returned 9/2
that's fine 5-1/2 was supposed to be 9/2 it was just a mishap finishing off with 4*1/2 no problem

What if I have a double integral (say 5x+y*x dA) bounded by those two functions. How do I define integration limits?
