Great video Dr. West. I am a born again Catholic for the exact reason you are talking about. I had a conversion of heart when I went to Medjugorje 14 years ago. I led a double life practicing Catholic through the motions while leading a promiscuous life. I reached bottom where my marriage almost fell apart. Our Blessed Mother intervened where she gave me an ecstasy experience. I had a taste of Heaven where there was complete joy and love. I have been going to Mass on a regular basis to experience that profound love of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and commit to daily prayer of the Rosary and Divine Mercy with an immense love for the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Sacred Heart of Jesus.

What a great video, I really appreciated where you talked about the three kinds of "diet". I came, like you, from the starvation diet. That often leads me to fall into the fast food approach and then a tremendous amount of guilt. I'm happy to know there is a third option! I really appreciated that you put the words up on the screen at that part too. Much less stop and start editing in this video too, thank you! Can't wait to share on facebook!

This is hilarious. He’s arguing for the assumption of Mary using a Cinnabon analogy, and nailing it.

I always had a question about the difference between ascension and assumption

I have read scripture that is pretty explicit on the ascension of Elijah, Enoch and Jesus himself. I can't seem to find the scripture on Mary. Why if Mary is so venerated and worshipped and why if she is everything Catholics say she is, why is it not in the bible? Why didn't God see fit to inspire any of the writers through the Holy Spirit to include that in scripture? Is it possible God just forgot that little detail or had a mental lapse of some sort? No, absolutely not. God is not a God of confusion, he is omniscient and he knows why it's not in scripture. Actually so do we. So why is it not in scripture in plain english for all to read? The reason is it didn't happen. It did in the minds of Catholics or the false teachings of the church. In fact it was 1950 that pope Pius the XII finally said hey everyone, I've got a good one. I know it's not in scripture but let's spread the lie that Mary was assumed. Pius said well nobody can question the doctrines of the church, so no big deal. So he waved the magic wand and poof, she was assumed. Truthfully there isn't any record scripturally of her being born without the stain of original sin or of her death. So there is no way the church can just claim it happened. Most importantly there is no record that Jesus, Mary or the apostles were even catholic. They were Jewish in everything they did and until their death. Mary had Jesus circumcised as an infant, not baptized. Mary herself offered a sin sacrifice because under her Jewish faith she was considered unclean. So regardless of how hard the church tries that part or any part of Mary CAN'T be changed. I know the church desperately tries but it can't go against scripture. And Of course Jesus was "King of the Jews", not king of the Catholics. That you can't change either. So the church can make all the false declarations it wants but they are just that, false. Saying it, writing or waving the magic wand won't do it. That is precisely why the councils and catechism exist. Scripture doesn't support catholic doctrine. Peter never taught or preached catholic doctrine. Peter didn't support the catholic tradition that is ever developing. He said "KEEP" the traditions as I delivered them unto you. As I delivered them, is the operative phrase. Peter also said "Stand fast and hold the traditions you have been taught". I don't think stand fast and hold, need explaining do they? What did Jesus say about tradition? He said "in vain they do worship me, teaching as doctrines the traditions of men". Jesus also said "you make the word of God of no effect because of your traditions". But it's obvious that the church doesn't care what Jesus says, the church narrative has priority. After all the church can interpret scripture anyway it wants. But truth will prevail. God in his infinite wisdom and knowledge knew that religions like the catholic church, Mormons, Jehovah's and others would come along. It's truly amazing that God would include two very telling scriptures. One is Proverbs 30: 6 that says "Add thou not unto his words lest he reprove thee and thou be found a liar". The other is Revelation 22:18-19. It says basically the same thing except it says the plagues of the bible will be added to those who foolishly add or take from his word. To all Catholics, welcome to the real truth of God's word. No fairy tales in scripture.

This is a great video. Personally I could do without the swift cuts that speed up your talking. I prefer the more natural flow of speech. But again, fantastic video.

So, the Bible doesn't teach this doctrine about Mary?

The assumption feels like a weird add on to Catholic belief. It doesn't add anything to how important she was and its claims are shakey and not shared by all Christians. It also reinforces the generalization that Catholicism thinks " sex=bad" because the only two fully assumptioned people ( Mary and JC) were also virgins (allegedly). This video is Catholic word salad.

Well thats all fine and good, but why do Catholics believe in the assumption? Are you saying the Church just made it up so we can have cinna buns in the sky? 😳

All his theology and logic is based on assumption. he seldom use the Bible to support his belief. It is all philosophy
