The Enlightenment

The Enlightenment came to have a tremendous influence on Europe and the United States, but it wasn’t exactly a unified movement. In this brief clip, R.C. Sproul identifies the Enlightenment as a reaction against the Reformation.

I frequently hear Christians speak of The Enlightenment period, specifically making its way to America, as a good thing. This kind of thinking baffles me. Why would Christians embrace The Enlightenment?
