Pilot here, there’s actually an interesting reason on how one person could throw off the weight of a jet. I’ll try to explain least words possible. Every aircraft has a Center Of Gravity (CG) now there’s you (weight), you in inches related to the CG is something called arm (arm). Arm x Weight = Moment. For example if you weigh 200Lb and you are 10 feet from the CG you add 24, 000lb to the aircraft. The CG can move fwd / aft. If the CG is moved to much fwd or aft it can cause a lot of hazardous situations. And there’s also a moment weight limit each aircraft has regulated. Hope his helped. (This info is in the PHAK in the FAA website)

Edit: negative effect of aft CG in aircraft - less stability, less controllability, harder stall/spin recovery.
Negative effect of fwd CG in aircraft - more wing loading, decreased performance, lower cruise speed, more induced drag.
