I have ADHD, and I can sit through hours of content. I sat through a 3 hour Dr Barkley video and only stopped once for a short intermission. Having ADHD doesn't mean you can't focus. One aspect of it is that you can't control your focus most of the time.

ADHD and autism is a great combo. I can sit through hours-long lectures, video-essays or debates online, back to back, and yet when it comes time to do something that actually matters, 5 minutes in and I'm doing something else.

Am I the only ADHD person who really prefers longer content?? Give me a 2 hour video about something I'm interested in and watch me clean the shit out of my house/car/garden while I listen.

This video cured my ADHD, thanks Dr K!

I'm glad this exists and I already pre-ordered since the Guide to Mental Health helped me understand more about my struggles as well as get back to meditating more frequently to help deal with them. It's not fun having ADHD when it hinders you and it's true - you can't distill a guide to 15 minutes simply because we have shorter attention spans than most people. Excited to start the module 💚

YOUR WORK IS SO IMPORTANT, YOU'RE THE MAN DOCTOR K

Take however long you need to watch it, a week, a month, even a couple of months...all of those time frames will be shorter than spending literal decades of your life figuring out how to do it on your own like I was before getting treated and finding Dr. K. Just a couple of his videos about ADHD had me walking away with 10x more lessons than I had learned in 23 years growing up with ADHD and that's not an exaggeration. Like, even thinking about it makes me want to cry because I was 23 years old and I thought life with ADHD just had to be like that, and there's a deep pain in my heart for that person. 20 hours sounds like a long time but it's the higher quality, short form version of figuring all of it out on your own.

1:11 perfect video length to get people with ADHD to go watch the longer videos xD Never formally diagnosed, but started to take those traits more serious lately, really hoping to fix my because I can't even enjoy films anymore without spreading them out over several days.

I like how he's so honest and straight to the point, is better to tell us the truth about this and how to approach it because a lie or a "work around" will only cause more problems and stress.

I love all these comments saying their ADHD manifests exactly the same as everybody else's and you just need to try harder. Definitely not the toxic mindset that kept me from getting diagnosed my whole life

OMG thank you so much for saying this! I make learning things (mostly corp training stuff) for a living. And the most common thing I hear is “we need this to take less time”. And I’m like “… sure we can do that. But like… you realize that it means you won’t get the big results and behavior changes you are looking for right? Learning takes time. People need to be able to process and apply the information we are giving them. They need to make mistakes, get meaningful feedback, and then experience the success of trying it again with more context/knowledge/experience. You can’t get the from a 3-5 minute video.” And then they surprise Pikachu me and say they want to do it the fast way anyway. >.<

So thank you for standing up for “yes, it really takes this much time/effort to do this the right way”!!!

I like how affordable the prices are. I was kinda expecting this would be something that costs quite a bit of money.

I kissed my frickin screen because I love this guy, there are no words for what he does to this community and now helping a problem I directly struggle with. Dr. K you're amazing!!

I got diagnosed with adhd 2 weeks ago through an assessment and now Dr K is doing an ADHD guide... how many times have Dr K addressed specific issues that I am struggling with is insane. Like from his video about learned helplessness which is forward thinking and not present minded and helped me recognize that me fearing my efforts would be wasted is dictating the wrong behaviour and giving me a pass of not doing anything in the present to like relationship fears of trying to do everything before the relationship even starts etc...

All im trying to say is DR K IS THE GOAT!! I am also combining dr k with 1 on 1 therapy/coaching for adhd. I already feel like this will be a deadly combo.

This is a convoluted post to address my thanks! And needless for me to say, I have already preordered!

TBH you will zone out or get distracted in the middle of doing long things, but just go back and relisten to parts (sometimes multiple times if you need to ). I have good and bad days at focusing on one thing, but the more effort I put into forcing myself to do it, the better I am in general.

I don't watch as often because I'm not as addicted to YouTube or games or the likes anymore. I used to watch a while back and practicing what you talk about has helped me grow as a man. I am thankful your words inspired me then.

LOL this video is perfect. Can't wait to hear it!

I went to a neuropsych a couple weeks ago and I thought I had bad memory. Turns out my memory is exceptional, but my attention span is below average.
He gave me like 10 words to remember and I had to recite them back and then after a bunch of other tests, he asked me to recite them again without a refresher. Market package elbow apple story carpet highway bubble saddle powder.
But then he asked me to hit the space bar on a computer everytime an x popped on the screen and I just couldn't do it.

One of the things I love about Dr. K is his honesty and occasional reality checks, which is needed for those who are looking for "quick fixes".... which ironically can cause more problems. He can't wave his magic wand and cure people of ADHD or any other mental health issue. That's not how it works.

i just do stuff while i listen and keep it nearby to look at the screen if i think i'm missing a visual. like folding laundry or cooking. i binge almost every dr k video despite having rampant adhd, it's doable. but funny enough i clicked because this was short and that felt less daunting, so nicely done there lol

I can sit through your content. I just break it down into listening sessions or keep myself occupied with things to help me focus like chewing gum, playing with an infinity cube or if those don't work, pause the video after I notice my focus is drifting and come back to it. I don't need to listen to it in one sitting. I notice that I do better with the aids.  Most times I can focus also because I already am taking my ADHD meds but when I do lose focus, in many cases I need a snack or just to stand and move for a minute and come back.

I appreciate all the info you give! It's really helpful, thank you!

I just turned 40 and in Hawaii, there wasn't any help for my ADHD. I was just treated like I was stupid. With therapy (from past TPSD experiences) my therapist pointed out my ADHD and helped me to learn coping and different ways to go about it as it vastly impacted my studying.

My wife is a behavioral therapist and she has ADD and pointed me in the direction of ADHD meds. So, I've been learning this stuff for over 15 years and now I feel confident enough to even pursue a master's as an Occupational Therapist. (I'm on break from my medical terminology class looking for a fidget toy lol).

I also like listening to Huberman lab on Spotify and his podcasts are usually 2 hrs long. He has a lot of good things to share about ADHD and how the mind works.

ANother help tip for anyone who has ADHD is to watch the videos at 2 times the speed. IT helps a lot of ppl with ADHD and it strangely causes many of us to focus. Helps me with listening to videos for school or long video sessions.
