The police have all sorts of ways to get you to confess to a crime, even if you didn't commit it. A great example of this is Richard Jewell, a man who was completely innocent, but confessed anyways due to immense pressure.

Ima call BS on this. I never heard of him confessing and that story was well publicized. I may be old now, but at least I was cognizant then. And it’s well known he was never charged or arrested. If he confessed he would have been charged.
Eric Rudolph was the one who confessed. This was almost thirty years ago and not forgotten.
