The seals referenced at the 13 min mark are GM part number 26100863. They cost anywhere from $12-14 each.

Thank you very much for so detailed film. When you unscrew those huge bolts to remove the subframe (or whatever that shield is), you need to wear a mask (a lot of dust w/rust around!). I watched this film to see how to release the Shaft from the Rack Peg (I think I have a skipped tooth on the rack, since the Steering wheel is crooked 45 degrees to the right), and maybe to replace the rack in the future (2003 Chevy Cavalier). The film was very helpful, thank you again.

Looks more involved than I thought. Without a lift it would be a nightmare to get that done. Had my replaced at the dealer last year and now I have to get it done again. Under warranty, thank goodness.

About the seals around 13 minutes in, do those typically come with a new rack and pinion or do they need to be bought separately?

Is it possible to over tighten the bolts on the steering rack too much and pull the center rubber pieces out? It looks like the rubber mounting pieces on mine, have protruded out of the steering rack housing towards where the front cross member would be. I'm trying to reinstall my differential after replacing my oil pan gasket, and now, the diff won't go back in? Thanks in advance.

Where did you get your torque specs? GM manual shows 74 on the small passenger side bolts and 148 on the driver side large bolts.

Can only the lines that are on the rack and pinion be changed? My truck started losing the shortest line that goes into the cylinder, can that line be changed?

2014 Silverado's don't have reservoirs. There electric steering.

What are the symptoms with bad rack pinion causes something all of sudden out of the blues I just made a sharp right hand u turn and bam it's like the steering got stupid with jerking as you try turning the wheels .any clues pal.
