This and two other videos are letting me know that I could spend $1, 500 to get this solved, or I could spend a few hundred bucks, learn a lot in the process, and have some really nice ratchets at the end of it. Looking forward to doing this on a weekend where the weather is nice.

I just did mine and was able to remove the 2 bolts that hold the rack to the frame without removing the sway bar bushing. At first it seems that the rack bolts are blocked by the sway bar bushing brackets but there’s enough room to wiggle the bolts out, just move the rack around while pulling on the bolts.

You rock my friend. Just finished mine. Thanks for helping me though it. If you plan on keeping your car for awhile (I'm up to 354k on my Avalon) I got the lifetime alignment at Firestone. For the cost of two alignments you can go say every six months plus pretty much whenever you do any work that requires an alignment. Saves a bunch of money over time and the car is always pointed straight. Thanks again for your help.

Great Video !!! Very detailed ! Thanks you saved me a bundle. R& R time 6-7 hours for me. FirIestoned wanted 3700.00 to replace this and the power steering pump and motor mount and a belt !!! I did not need need to remove sway bar bolts, lift up on rack and they should come completely out, this is of course on my Avalon. Getting it out was a puzzle but it worked.

It does require you to buy some tools, but like most people say. You can buy everything you need for this job. Tools (good quality) and equipment and still be at least half of what an honest shop will quote you. You win when you do it yourself, no matter how you spend the savings.

1:40 instead of hammer, use a special clamp tool to release the morse cone of the tie rod end. 20.00 from freight harbor, or free rent/loan from autozone.

Is there a particular reason its not better to align the wheel and the pinion by just cranking the wheel full left or right, then cranking the pinion full left or full right?

I have an issue with steering rack in my Lexus ES330 (2005). Getting confused should I buy from a used OEM from eBay or will go for aftermarket parts that are reliable. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks !

After replacement, this need to be fixing in the future?

Good vid brother. Well done. Now by a tie rod splitter to separate those tie rods. Works a lot easier.

Will the procedure be the same for a 2010 camry?
