FLOW Movie Review - Did It Deserve The Oscar?

Flow Movie Review - Flow recently won the Oscar for Best Animated Movie of the Year. Today I review the film and explain why I think it deserves the praise. While not as accessible as The Wild Robot or Inside Out 2; Flow has a deeper meaning. Messages that people can pull from the film and interpret in different ways. Flow is a beautiful film both inside and out. I love movies that challenge the audience and appeal to all ages. Give this one a watch when you can!

Throughout the film, every time the characters looked into the water, their reflections were disturbed. Even at the climax, when they come together, the water remains unsettled, yet ultimately finds peace. I believe the water serves as another character in this film, a truly captivating element!

I've been obsessed with this movie since I watched it two weeks ago. It took me three days to finish watching because it caused me such anxiety. The ascension scene was the most beautiful, heartbreaking scene in any movie I've ever seen. I never rooted so hard for a movie to win the Oscar. It's truly a masterpiece and imo should have been a contender for best picture as well.

Can I point out that this film has no voice actors to take all the glitz and glam away from the real technicians behind the magic of movie making wonder. Yeah, I hate to break it to everyone, but the animators have always deserved all the acclaim. I am glad this film has come along to remind everyone of that.

Flow is honestly one of the best animated films I've seen in ages! I got pretty emotional when it won the Academy Award because I loved it so much—it's truly deserving of all the praise. Besides Kieran Culkin, I really think Flow is the only other film that should have snagged an Oscar this year. I totally agree with all the others who feel the same way!

I loved this film, I’m sort of obsessed with it. There is an additional scene after the credits roll that advances the ‘circle of life’ narrative and makes the whale’s death a little more palatable.

I particularly appreciated this one as my kids were able to ascribe their own meanings and motives to all of the characters. As it was a "silent" film like you said, the four of us were able to talk and theorize amongst ourselves throughout - allowing my wife and I to basically hear our children process this story and characters in real time in their own words. I loved that it was open-ended and a bit more ethereal. Gorgeous design, too.

... all that being said, I still enjoyed The Wild Robot more, haha.

I really enjoyed this movie. I'm glad you didn't describe the world as post-apocalyptic. Personally, I think this is some kind of Limbo or transitional place. Its just a little to abstract, with locations and situations that seem symbolic, rather than realistic, even for a fantasy world. But I could be wrong, its one of the reasons I like the film so much. It leave itself open to interpretation.

Just a note on the production. It actually had a very small team of creatives working on it. Only three actual production companies. The rest will be Distribution, money and others. But yes, a silly amount of logos :D

The wild robot is better in my opinion but whoever likes this film I respect it Flow was very good too 😊😊
