Red Cell - Secret team of Special Forces attacks own country

The so-called Red Cells are teams of American special forces who carry out attacks on their own country.

Members are recruited from the best special forces like SEAL Team Six to test the security of American bases. Their operations are subject to absolute secrecy and the soldiers have almost every freedom to put themselves in the position of the attackers. After entering the base with fake identities, they plant bombs or kidnap high-ranking personnel. Once, they even managed to plant an explosive device near Air Force One, the president’s plane. Afterwards, they brief security personnel on their procedures so they can be more thorough in the future.

In 1986, however, one Red Cell took things too far. The team kidnapped a civilian guard from the military base, almost resulting in a real gunfight. Subsequently, the hostage was tortured for almost 30 hours, although this served no purpose of the exercise.

In 2017, a former member even used his knowledge to rob 5 banks before eventually being caught.

The last one had nothing to do with red cells… he went rogue after leaving the military.

For further context:

In 1986 they kidnapped the security guard at a Navy base to test the security. Except the thing is as soon as they kidnapped him, the guard’s wife saw them and almost killed them with her revolver. The only reason she didn’t pull the trigger was because her husband told he it was just an exercise and that he’d be back soon. The strange part is they were caught almost instantly, meaning the base passed the test yet they still kidnapped him anyways.

They brought them to a hotel where they beat, kicked, stripped, dumped his head in a bathtub, and gave him swirlies in the hotel toilet they also recorded the event. It’s believed that the reason they did that was because they were embarrassed and humiliated, they’re top level Navy SEALs and have done this multiple times with success against whole military bases…but were literally an inch away from getting one tapped by a housewife so they took it out on him. They apparently stamped a message on him to before dumping him back on the base. He went on to sue the Navy for what is today $2.6 million and stated that he wished he “let his wife shoot them” and she agrees.

Here’s the kicker ya? They’ve done this exact same thing to multiple officers in the military, but apparently they have a special impunity. If you were in the military and they did this to you the government says that you could basically go kick rocks and tell someone who cares. The only reason the guard was allowed to sue was because he was a 51 year old civilian.

Even the Red Fish was held hostage above water for 12 hours. Almost resulting in his life being taken.

"Um, rob three more?"

These guys were the inspiration for the Dead Cell unit from Metal Gear Solid 2.

How did that never result in some major friendly fire disaster is beyond me.

They actually mock blew up Air Force 1, they stole a truck loaded with bombs and parked in next to AF1 even though the Secret Service warned them not to mess with it. They found the truck, disarmed the trigger and jumped into the truck, only to find out there was a second trigger under the seat and detonated the fake IUDs, which were just smoke bombs.

They actually tortured many people. This civilian security guard was the first who had legal recourse because he wasn’t military. Military officers even tried bullying him out of suing them, one officer was on the record calling him a “crybaby.”
When he was kidnapped his wife got the jump on the Navy Seal and could have shot him, but the husband told her it was a drill. After the fact his wife said if she would have known the kind of torture they were going to do to him, she would have dropped the Seal. The husband also wishes he would have let his wife drop his abductor.

A friend of mine was in the navy, he was smoking a cigarette and noticed guys climbing the chain to the anchor. He told one of his higher ups and the entire ship went to arms. He proceeded to stand there smoking his cigarette while they aimed shotguns over the side and detained everybody just to find out it was an exercise lol. I would have lost my shit

This is why I say that D.B. Cooper could have been a special forces guy financing a covert op - or just doing it on a dare.

Here's what's really scary: the parts that are still classified. A few have hinted in autobiographies...well, let your imagination wander.

They do this to American citizens, now imagine what they do to foreigners.

The level of confidence you have to have to train someone to steal and infiltrate your most valuable and secure places and then expect them NOT to do it after their done is absolutely bonkers to me
