I'm considering trying this out, but I'm wuite skeptical in term of your method having enough string length to ensure that the thinner strings won't slip out, do you really dont give any bit of slack on all strings? Anyways looks interesting, might try it out when i have to change strings

I'm not going to comment on your method either way. But I've watched a lot of videos like this, and everybody demonstrates using the low E string. and says "Ta Da, nothing to it!" Nobody ever shows themself doing the thin E string which is a whole different kettle of fish. Whichever method I try, it works fine on all the other strings, but the little E rarely co-operates, and often slips or breaks prematurely.
