One thing I’ve noticed, that I’m unsure if I’ve misinterpreted, is a guy staring at me, then, looking away, as if he’s irritated a bit. I used to wonder what I’d done wrong and may have not even known that he really had any interest at all.

What I think “may” be the case, sometimes, is not that he’s irritated with you. But that he knows he cannot have you. He may be in a relationship or even married. So, he may be irritated with his circumstance and the situation. He may have wished he met you before his current lady.

Also, I think that, sometimes, when a guy stares, yes, he could be shy. But, sometimes, only shy, because he’s afraid of rejection. Some men (and women) are only shy, when it comes to affairs of the heart. Other than that, they may be quite the opposite. So, it may be very easy to miss, that they’d have any amount of shyness.

Maybe even the digital version of this is with online dating. I’ve seen guys seem like they will keep “staring”, like for months at a time. I don’t even know if they’re just in the rotation of my feed or they purposely keep looking. But, it ends up being a standoff, between old fashioned women, like myself, who won’t approach a man and newer thinking men, who will never actually say anything to a woman, in part, because either they afraid of rejection or because the law makes it so men have to be more careful nowadays.
