Small Faces - Live At Newcastle City Hall - November 18th, 1968

This concert was originally released as side one of the ''In Memoriam'' album form 1969, this release is missing from streaming services. As it usually is with 60s live recordings, there's screaming overdubbed in some parts, as you can clearly hear the screams loop over and over after All Or Nothing. There doesn't seem to be any other studio overdubs, which is great, other than the weird stereo panning of this recording.
This would also be amongst some of the final performances that the Small Faces did together, giving it a sort of melancholic vibe in my opinion.

The highlights from this recording are ''Every Little Bit Hurts'' and ''All Or Nothing''. Steve Marriott's voice is in top form, and Kenney Jones' drumming has improved a whole lot since 1966.

The photo is from a show in Adelaide earlier that same year.

00:11 Rollin' Over
02:30 If I Were A Carpenter
04:59 Every Little Bit Hurts
11:12 All Or Nothing
15:17 Tin Soldier

This is so good to hear… what a great band they were. Steve Marriott one of the all time great front men. I only saw them twice, at the Windsor Jazz & Blues festivals ‘66 & ‘67, and I remember them being a stand out act both times!

The first concert I ever went to was a week after this, at Birmingham Hippodrome on the occasion of my 14th birthday. Stevie and the boys closed the first half with this set (the other bands being a fledgling Free, Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Mindbenders and The Who) - it was just tremendous and I thought music like this would go on forever! Sadly not and the Small Faces themselves split up five weeks later - but what a memory! Thanks for uploading this, we have to be so happy to have been around at the right time.

Someone should issue this show because there were only two live tracks I think on the box set…

I was at this concert, Steve Marriott got a strop on because he was hit in the face by a peanut thrown from the crowd.
