How to Discipline a Black Child - Chapter One

It seems like everyday I see another meme, video, or post condoning and encouraging corporal punishment against Black children. I also notice that there's little to no representation of positive and effective ways to raise Black children with discipline learned through nurturing, attentive, and with firm and high expectations. Something is wrong with that! This not only saddens me, but it moves me to combat this cancer that's destroying our children, families, and communities.

Recently, I started a Facebook group to bring together, encourage, and support other Black parents who want alternatives to spanking their children. This is one step in the right direction. To take it a step further, I'll be posting videos on how to discipline (teach) a Black child in a firm, loving way. It's very important for Black people to see that we can indeed raise our children with discipline that does not include hitting them at all or for any reason.

This video is the first installment of many that will show you how I discipline my children at their various stages of childhood.
