What is melasma

Melasma is one of the most stubborn and mysterious skin conditions out there and its characterized by those dense brownish patches on the skin that appear symmetrical on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip and chin.

How to get rid of melasma and treat melasma by avoid mistakes.

1st Mistake: is forgetting or avoiding daily sunscreen. Sunscreen is essential for anyone's daily life, but extremely crucial for those experiencing melasma.
2nd Mistake: Frequent exposure to Heat, Sun, and Light Emitting Sources.
3rd Mistake: Experimenting with Homemade Recipes. The problem is that with homemade recipes, is that they are homemade, they are not clinically formulated.
4th Mistake: Believing that melasma can be cured. There are two reasons that melasma is so hard to cure.
5th Mistake: Not seeking professional help. Only a trained health care professional will be able to carry out a correct assessment and examination of your condition. Because there is not a one size fits all product or treatment regimen for melasma.

Types of melasma

There are different types of melasma, such as superficial, deep, and mixed. So to have it properly assessed, seek out the right care to have a tailored treatment that is ideal for you. Often times the prescription treatment TriLuma is prescribed, an all in one triple therapy which is very effective for treating melasma. It contains: Fluocinolone: a corticosteroid that lowers irritation and inflammation. Hydroquinone; which is a melanin synthesis inhibitor, which helps lighten the color of skin and tretinoin: which is a retinoic acid derivative related to vitamin A that promotes new skin growth.

Recently I got the La Roche Posay niamicide 10% which I only use at night, when I prepare for bed. On top of it I use Hydra intensive cream on top of it which has 20 fps (yes even at night I use sun screen). In the morning I’m using the Hydra serum and the Hydra cream on top, then I finish up with sun screen very high factor of protection…ALL FROM la roche posay.
It is fading week after week… the only thing that worked.
If that can also help you… to take my makeup off I don’t rub any cotton ever again but I use the milk makeup remover from Clarins, to wash my face also some soap from Clarins very gentle. Makeup products ONLY from Clarins. I don’t dare to put any other brands that I am sure that has commitment with the quality on my skin ever again.
When I go for a walk I use a hat… I dont care if people look…until this melasma get off of my face I will keep the discipline.

Treating melasma consistently is definitely key. Even with 3 TCA peels in six months, my melasma isn't going away, but considering my age and lifestyle, it's not getting worse. My spots are noticeably lighter and with makeup + tinted sunscreen my skin looks almost flawless. It's a never ending battle...

sounds like the only permanent solution that i should explore is to tattoo by whole face with color similar to my body skin... pigmentation on my facial skin is really bad and has been more than 12 years i tried all shorts of solutions out there. Maybe tattoo is really the last option.

Triluma caused worse dark spots on my face. Reading others reviews, I attribute it to dotting it on tiny spots at bedtime to reduce light exposure. Then I'd rub it in and watch my cell phone a bit to let it dry since I was told it could stain a pillow etc. Apparently the little bit of cell phone light was enough to stain.

Menopause and Covid overlapped for me. Severe vasodilation from over heating of my head and face, which I like to call heat intolerance. My most prominent symptom of menopause. Wearing the mask on top of it. All hell broke loose, on my face!
