I am from Europe and I have never seen anybody do that. Which does not mean that it doesn't happen, but usually, they cut the tree down and then either leave the stump alone or they uproot the stump. If the stump is really large, they sometimes cut it into pieces before uprooting it.

As living in the province here in the Philippines, we do this. While the stump is burning we use it as griller. Grilled banana blossom is the best

Most people just drill holes, add mycelium and then cover the holes with melted bee wax, years of tasty mushrooms, or just give the stump a use untill it rots by itself, here in Spain people ain't obsessed with perfect lawns or stuff like that as we fence our entire properties, so no one else gets to see it if we don't want to.
So unless you are gonna build something or wanna grow crops there, its usually just given a use or left to rot.

Because in Europe they still have Wizards who can supply them with that MAGICAL flammable fluid. We in North America can only get the normal Non-Magical kind and apparently it doesn’t work as well so we buy machines for the job instead 😂

In Europe, they remove stumps. In Soviet Union, stumps remove you.

Instead of flammable liquid, pour honey & let the bugs go after the sweetened wood. Environmentally the best way to do it.

Its called a stump grinder and u can rent one for 120 bucks a day, it leaves u mulch and or compost.

Just build a fire pit around the stump. While burning out the stump, sit around the fire pit, roast some hot dogs and enjoy the fire!

I have always drilled holes and poured bacon grease in. The grease gets absorbed by the wood and a few charcoal briquettes placed on top and ignited the next day will burn out about 1/3 of the stump in 16 hours of burning. Repeat 3 more times and it will burn below ground level. You can then fill the hole with garden soil and plant grass or another tree.

The roots will burn for days if they are wrapped around your PVC sewage pipe you’re in trouble.

I drilled holes, put a salt in the holes, add water. Years later it decomposed, removed the rotting roots. Very slow process but safer than this.

I'm in Canada and that's how I did it. It was a 3 foot wide stump in my backyard. I just put a center hole in it. Added some. Oh, and I and I continued to burn it. Over summer

This works...i have done it years ago with my dad. We burned out some pine stumps. Once it starts burning good lay a piece of old metal roofing over it. It will smolder and burn the stumps completely out. Takes a few days and in our case smelled like Christmas trees.

I tried this way - NOT WORKING! This method no good because, at least, no air access from the buttom.
Finally, I used old dryer stainless steel drum, putting it around the stump. It made more or less correct way for air circulation. Made a 🔥 between drum and stump.
