I’ve been so close to being a heat casualty, I remember one time as a SPC me my SL & TL were doing group land nav in Fort A.P Hill, Virginia in full kit with our rucks (35lb dry) and we got lost after finding 3/5 points we were probably 300m of the course and around mile 8 I stopped sweating and started seeing like blue flashes. We didn’t want to unblouse our boots because there were ticks in the woods. I was running out of water and we hadn’t seen a lane safety in about 30 to 40 minutes but somehow we manage to find ourselves back on course and turn around to head back to SP. Maybe 15m in front of us was our 4th point. So we collected the point and made it back, I am completely black on water (2 canteens and a camelbak) and there we still another lost team! At the end of the night I was covered in ticks I think it was 12 of them. Good times in the Army

Edit: what kept me from being a heat casualty was the fact that they said “if you heat cat the doctor has to shove a thermometer up your butt” I was not going for that
