Hi Heather, I am also aiming to lose 30lbs. Turning 52 in a couple of weeks and have been losing about 1kg/week. So far have lost 3kg. I have reduced my calories particularly carbs, doing 10K-12K steps per day on my treadmill. And cut all drinks except water and tea. I imagine I will plateau with weight loss at 75kg then 70kg but want to push on till I reach 65kg. Mostly I want to be as healthy as I can as I get older.

Finally! Someone who is brave enough to admit where their faults were and talk about the importance of adjusting your mind! You can do all the things in the world to lose weight, but if your mindset is not right, its never going to stick! This is where i finally got to this year after years of failrd attempts to get back into my 20's body (i turned 40yrs old last year and dubbed the new decade "fitty 40's"). I dont need my 20's body, but I do need a healthier mindset to drive me to a healthier me in the long run. You have a new subscriber in me! Thanks for the suggestions as well on audio's to listen to! Got them in my library's now! 😊

Spoken like someone who knows what they're talking about, having experienced it and then overcome. Thank you !

I love The Mountain is You! I’d always thought about that quote you mentioned in terms of career, building confidence, etc. but hadn’t thought about it from a weight loss perspective. It’s SO true though. You have to become the highest version of yourself by just doing the thing and surrounding yourself with people already doing these things

I heard myself in a lot of the things you said! I know I need desperately to change my mindset! I’m so sick of feeling horrible about the 25-30 lbs I need to lose 😢 I continue making choices knowing they are not taking me in the right direction! I’m subscribing and hoping you can help motivate me to get started on my new lifestyle 🎉

I've slowly come to terms with the fact that I have a sugar addiction. I struggled with being overweight most of my life but finally got it under control and maintained the same healthy body weight for about 4 years. I can't describe how proud of myself I felt and how happy I was to finally have gotten to a good healthy place - then I stayed with a less healthy friend for about a week and I "had to" follow her snack/sugar habits as the guest. That was all it took to get me hooked on sugar, I literally can't not have it *every* day now and I don't know what to do about it. I've gained enough weight back that I'm almost back at my highest weight again. It makes me feel SO stupid because why can't I just not buy and eat it?! Why is it that my brain loses all logical function at the mere thought of eating sugar now?! Even when I've tried to explain to people around me that I'm trying to quit a sugar addiction they don't take it seriously and forget after 5 minutes and keep encoraging me to eat it because I'm "just" overweight and not obese. It's all so frustrating.
I know just watching videos on weightloss like this isn't gonna do the work for me, and that our journeys and struggles aren't going to be exactly the same, but it genuinely helps to know I'm not alone and that it can be done.

I am honestly kind of blown away by the wisdom in this video. A lot of what you talked about sounds familiar to me from my therapist. It’s always super helpful to hear similar ideas from a different source. The way you phrased everything was so succinct and helpful. Great job, and thank you for this content!
Man for once the algorithm was really valuable in showing me this video. Subscribed!

30 lbs in three years is sooo healthy. Great content! You got a new subscriber. Hope YT be more filled with health and longevity, than just losing weight.

I know drinking is getting in the way of my weight loss. I lost 10 lbs not drinking for 2 months. Then I went on a long trip with drinking involved and I am back in the cycle of eating/drinking on the weekend. I want to move toward quitting completely, I know it is the one thing holding me back! I’ve made some new friends at work who all don’t drink and hanging out with them has helped me a ton with realizing how much fun activities can be without drinks!

For me, the biggest truth on this video is that to make progress in any endeavour requires the willingness and practice of getting out of one's comfort zone. I learnt this truth years ago when I used to go jogging most days along the old dis-used railway track by Finsbury Park in London. When I pushed myself to the limit, after a few days I would find another level, and the previous level became easy.

Of course this doesn't mean that one needs to push without settling in for a while into the new level. Life would not be very enjoyable if one were to be continually exerting oneself beyond the comfort zone. But once one has raised one's level, the only way to get to a higher one is to once again get out of the comfort zone. So, regarding weight loss and fighting the flab, when the scales remain the same for a couple of weeks it's a message that you need to reduce portion size, or increase activity level in order to make further progress, if that's what you want.

This is honestly way more helpful than a “how to lost 20 lbs in 30 days” type videos

Wow! This is a great, informative video. Recently, I had actually bought James Clear’s book “Atomic Habits”. I also bought a planner (not his…something more affordable for me) and a cookbook called, “Eat Real Cookbook” by Zonya Foco, RDN. My husband needed to go to MD Anderson for a follow up appointment. We came in on Sunday and left Monday. So my plan was to read more of the book and start making notes and coming up with a strategy using the planner. I was also going to peruse the cookbook and pick up some higher quality foods based on some recipes. Sounds great right? Now let me tell you what I actually did. We went to the hotel’s restaurant and ordered food and cocktails. I had two cocktails. When I got back to the room all I wanted to do was binge watch YouTube videos and, of course I stayed up too late. When I woke up the next morning, I was hung over and tired and realized I had COMPLETELY derailed my good intentions. How many of us are doing this. Thank you for this video, Heather! New subscriber here! Love from Texas ❤
