Can AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series REALLY Compete? - 7600X 7700X Benchmarked!

Let’s get started with AMD. We’re 3 days away from the company announcing the Ryzen 7000 series of CPUs. Not the release, just the announcement. But just like every other product, the leaks are starting to get good.

Honestly, the Ryzen 7000 series was probably the most well-guarded CPU family since AMD started Ryzen, Like I had no clue what kind of raw performance to expect. I always had to extrapolate from AMD's information. Now though, we got some alleged leaks on the mid-range CPUs. The 7600X and 7700X and boy is there a huge leap forward. The only issue is, is it big enough to beat raptor lake? Let’s check it out!

The first bit of information comes from Greymon55 over on Twitter, and what we have is essentially Cinebench R23 scores. In single-threaded workloads, the 6 core 7600X would score Just above 1900 points. The 8 core 7700X on the other hand would score just above 2000 points. These are about 25% faster than the 8-core Ryzen 5800X. That’s pretty impressive

That means the midrange Ryzen 7000 CPU’s are about as fast as the fastest Alder lake processor in single-threaded workloads. Then though, we have the multi-core score. And here, it's not as impressive. The 7600X allegedly scores around 15 100 points. It's a heck of a lot higher than its predecessor, but it does fail to beat its alder lake counterpart. The 10 cores 12600K. The intel chip beats the 7600X by about 15%.

I can't wait for the new generation of CPUs to release so we can get some real numbers instead of all the leaks.

Performance increases kind of in the expected ranges. Still, probably going to get Ryzen 7000. I'm just about to upgrade from my old Pentium G4400.

What I always look forward to in a new CPU generation are the motherboard designs.

Power efficiency will be very interesting, both for cpu and gpu in this generation.

Ryzen & intel thermals and power usage will be interesting.

"Sand some concrete" sounds like the new "go pound sand"

Lets compare an 8core 16 thread AMD CPU to a 12 core 24 thread Intel CPU and be amazed that the Intel part has a better multithreaded score. Come on man your better than that.

I also see no mention of the fact the 5700 is a 65w CPU and the 12700k is a 125w CPU that often runs closer to 190w under load.

I will wait for the reviews and clean data before making up my mind.

Efficiency will be the determining factor in my buying decision. 5% slower SC score, yet way less power consumption for Ryzen? Easy choice. 💙

E cores still seem to have problems in gaming, so my next system will either have a 12400 or 7600 depending on pricing

Unlike Arc, I'm actually positive about XESS, and that's mainly because it should run on other graphics cards. That'll give us 2 other choices other than DLSS. Good on Intel if they can deliver.

I'm holding off critiquing Zen 4 because AMD was sandbagging and I believe there is more performance left on the table when everything is said and done.

At this point, since any option will be able to do everything I would need, I really don't care anymore which one is faster. I mean for example if both i7 and r7 are around same price, but the I7 has around 10-20% more performance. Previously, I would think that the i7 is the better deal. However, if the i7 needs 30% or more power to get those performance, then in the long run amd still cost less.

Temps. Those are under rated. I would rather go for a 5700x than a 11700K.

What is the tdp of the new amd chips in comparison to the raptor and or Alder lake chips, I'm afraid to say you are comparing apple's to oranges lol.

Okay, bro, it is killing me that those cables in the PC back there are not lovely and cleanly done to the GPU! PLS fix it.

Based on the performance probably. But, if they raise the price, then no.

Ummm, that multi-core performance on Cinebench is about a 40% increase over last gen. Add that to a near 25% gain in single core and it's EASY to extrapolate that it's going to kick ass in games. Once again it's showing that it can run really high clocks for all-core which means for gaming the game threads should be even faster than all-core.

So, while you're saying all-core or multi-core doesn't look great, well, it's being compared against the 5600X which is STOMPS and the 12600K which has more cores. Taken in the context of what it does to the 5600X and how the 5600X was similar to the 12600K in gaming, Zen 4 is going to kick ass in gaming.

It's going to easily win in gaming.

Unless you bench marked these Cpu's for yourself i don't want to hear it.

compared to intel's leaked benchmarks, intel is looking better. however this will hopefully make AMD's pricing go down I hope. all depends on the price difference between the two brands. either way i will prob still go amd. if i dont like the 7000 series pricings i will upgrade to a 5700x as im currently on a R7 2700

i just wish those 7600x/7700x numbers are for 65w tho
