I was thinking i9 would be future proofing, but the power draw being so high doesnt make sense since newer tech is supposed to become more economical not less. The avg user shouldnt be paying for the electric bill of a server

I’m thinking of building my first pc by August and I plan on building a pc good for both gaming and content creation. I want a cpu able to run games like cod at roughly around 200fps at 1440p give or take maybe 180 fps roughly minimum, and capable of streaming and editing YouTube videos and thumbnails preferably at 1440p as well but it DOESNT have to be 4k or 2160p. What would be a good cpu for that? I was looking at the and Ryzen 7 7800x3d I think it’s called and the intel core i7 14700k

Been an intel user for 10+ years. I remember back in the day when amds were the voltage hungry heat beasts. How the tables have turned. Really wanted to get into am5 but like you said the pricing on mobos and chips aren’t that enticing. Really wanted to do a sub 4L case with an 86-8700g but damn those chips are crazy expensive

Question. I'm on a budget (kind of #FinanceIt), and I've always been a bang for my buck kind of guy. Right now I have a 5600x & 7900xtx with 32gb of 3600ddr4. I edit video for music promotion, but I mostly game at 4k. Lot's of Helldivers 2. I considered upgrading to a 5800x3d, but I'm not sold on that. I'm finding the intel options very attractive. I haven't owned an intel CPU in a long time, but have fond memories with the Core-2-Duos. (aged myself there). Should I upgrade my AM4 platform to the 5800x3d, or go Intel and get a new motherboard and use my RAM until I'm able to replace it? Or go AM5, getting a new CPU, MB, and RAM? People online will say 5800x3d all day online, but I don't see the improvement for 4k. I've been driving myself crazy for days thinking about this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

In which universe is Intel a good recommendation?

There are niche use cases (Adobe) where that is defensible, otherwise I wouldn't recommend any Intel CPU even to my worst enemy (well maybe then).
