It seems like there are certain exercises where straps are useful and other exercises where straps are unnecessary. Like mentioned, with dumbbell rows, the wrists can get exhausted first and be the limiting factor when the aim of the exercise isn't to work your wrists. You can maximize growth with the targeted muscle with straps in that case. On the other hand, other exercises like a bicep curl will exhaust your biceps way before your wrists, so straps are unnecessary in that regard.

I have fractured BOTH of my wrists in the past so I have really bad grip strength and weight stacked on my wrist (like a bench press) can get painful as I increase the weight.

Use straps. Don’t sacrifice your Lats, make every rep possible. There’s exercises to strengthen your grip and your forearms. This video is bullshit with the “only in heavy sets”. Using straps will absolutely help you maintain good form and quality reps.

I have small wrists and my weak forearm was making me rushing workout and unabke to lift heavier weights hence my personal trainer told me to buy pair of straps or gripps and it was magic the gripps literally are game changers.

I only use straps on two exercises, deadlift and rack pulls, also only on very heavy sets.

Well for bodybuilding I find straps very useful as it allows you to fully put your focus and target your muscle without having to worry about loosing your grip

I get tears in my forearms i don’t use em a lot but for protection and longevity I use em especially during drop sets
