I tried all this with only some success. After years and multiple cases of cellulitis, I started keto and intermittent fasting. Especially important was eliminating seed oil and grains from my diet. To my amazement the swelling went away. That was something even the two saphenous vein ablation surgeries couldn't achieve. My own doctors were practically no help. I learned from watching doctors on YouTube and cured myself of prediabetes without medication. I'm 150 lbs lighter and off all medication except a daily blood thinner. I do still wear compression stockings, because they feel nice.

This video's timing is amazing! I have been struggling with lower leg edema for several years; all of your videos on this medical issue are necessary. But this is almost a magic wand for me! Thank you all and your mother for this information. I am seeing my cardio team in a few weeks, and will discuss the script needed for these. Every penny paid will be of help, too.
Best wishes to all. peace

My mother used to have that issue.. still does but not nearly as much.. one thing she does nearly everyday is laying in bed and putting her feet up on a Foam Spongy pillow-like thing my sister gave her years ago.. that helps her so much.. and she does that from maybe 4pm to 7 pm and her feet don’t really swell up anymore…

Thanks for this timely video! My daughter was just asking me to make a doctor's appointment regarding my swollen ankles. I will try the exercises in the linked video while waiting for my appointment.

"Struggling for years, when it wasn't necessary."
That's been my overall healthcare experience.
Thank you for helping people!

A vibration plate (vibration setting) is very helpful for blood and lymph circulation but unfortunately not many PTs are familiar with it. For edema, just sit on a chair with your feet on the plate (also just watching TV !) or, better still, lay down and roll your calves on it. Hours later you’ll note a great improvement. The plate can be used for many other applications as well.

Oh wow thx so much. What a wonderful thing for your mother! I have a relative that suffers terribly for years which keeps him from walking. This is so great. Thank you for sharing❤

I couldn't walk more than 100 feet at a time. My doctor wanted to perform surgery and sell ne a boot. Go figure. My solution was to use a stair climber at the fitness center. Increase blood flow cleared it up.Imagine that!

This is *precisely* wot I wanted to know, though it's not just my ankles, but my feet, too. Thank you!

Great video. It must have been a blessing for your Mother to have some relief. Gave her back some dignity too.
Thanks Brad and Mike.

Some blood pressure medications cause ankle swelling. If you are taking blood pressure medication and your ankles are swollen, it might be helpful to ask your doctor whether a different medication might help.

Has anyone with this tried lying on your back in bed with your legs straight and up with your heels against the headboard or wall?
I used to do this when I was a waiter and had to stand for long periods of time. My feet would feel thick and heavy and I would do this for 5 minutes at night to feel releif.
I don't know if would help swollen ankels. But maybe. It's safe and free to try.

I’m in desperate need of doing something about my left ankle & foot. The blooming thing has been swollen & bloated for about five or six years. A ‘medical sock’ (?), almost knee length, does help somewhat. But it’s marvelous to see something like this ! 🇯🇵

I feel these treatments are ok but the thing that’s the most important is trying to regulate your blood pressure.. by not eating salt 🧂 or salty foods.. and if possible walking to circulate your blood flow and keep your feet/legs from swelling up.. that’s probably the most affective and healthy way to help wit this issue.. I understand it happens to older folks more and it’s not possible for some to exercise but try to move your arms and legs in bed and/or whatever you can do to move to improve your blood circulation..

I retired from the military at age 50 and was in good shape but had some chronic conditions. Also my boots had been bloused with fatigues tightly tucked into them for 30 years. So when I retired and took the boots off for the last time, my ankles swelled up and stayed that way. I had a few times over the past few years where they were not swollen but more often than not, the left or both ankles are swollen and it looks awful and makes me feel unhealthy. I do use compression socks which help to some degree. I have no idea what caused it and can only imagine I damaged my veins all those years blousing my boots.

Thanks for doing this video. My left ankle swells up more than my right one. I've noticed that it's been swelling up more than usual. I'm going to discuss this with my vascular, cardiologist and primary doctors.

Last week I had too much pizza slices for two days. On the third day my right foot swolle up. I thought lack of movement, standing still for large period, *and the pizza* were to blame. So, I walked in place instead of just standing when cooking/doing the dishes, I also put my feet up whenever possible (I laid on the couch with my feet on a cushion on the armrest so *my feet were higher than my legs*). And… for a few days I *cut salt to almost zero*.
It worked like a charm. I now eat a bit more salt but looking at the thumbnail convinced me to lower it again.
