I've used the blade attachment for the Echo SRM 225 many times over the past couple of years and thought I'd share with you the step-by-step instructions to remove the string trimmer head and install the blade attachment!

If you have questions throw them in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them!

Man I don’t ever leave comments on YouTube but this was great!!! Echo has no idea what they are doing when it comes to writing instructions. Nice job, simple, well explained, got it done in 5 minutes thanks again!

After reading the instruction manual i was SO confused. Yours was the first video i watched and it will be the ONLY video i watch. I went from probbably not even using the blade and just retuning it to totally nailing it because of you. Thanks a ton!

Thank you! Your's is the fifth video I've clicked on and the first to definitively say which way to say which direction to turn the head to take it off!

Thank you. The kit I bought included 3 different bottom plates and was not clear at all which model echo trimmer uses which plate! They expect you to measure the length of the shaft yet it’s buried somewhat. Best I could tell my SRM225 I bought earlier this year has a 42mm shaft. Definitely not longer and not much shorter. So I ended up using the shorter collared plate AND the small collar ring. Seems to fit well. I wish I’d watched your video before I took the string head off. I ended up disassembling mine way more than I needed to!

After years of not using my blade and I had forgotten a few things about the assembly this was great. Thanks

Low-Key: Please contact Echo and re-write their conversion instructions. They are awful. YouTube to the rescue.

This was a great tutorial brother. We didn't put the cotter pin in (we had rain rolling in and started to rush). And we noticed our ECHO GX 225 was vibrating violently. I'll hook it up tomorrow exactly the way you showed us. Hoping that will do the trick. Thanks again!

Put one of these kits on my SRM 225 this afternoon. It was around $50 at Home Depot. Appreciate your excellent tutorial vid that I viewed before doing the attachment. The instructions included options for various other brands so was more complex than how you laid things out. Adds a bit more weight down at the end there! I plan on using it this week at one of my accounts. Will report back with analysis...lol. Cheers!

Split the cotter pin AFTER you push it through the hole, then push the two pin legs apart and curl them in opposing directions around the shaft end.

Awesome ! I have a big unkempt yard and have been looking at blade attachments- this is exactly what I wanted to know- thank you.
By the way, the shaft with the lines milled in- that is called a SPLINE. Yep, that is a cotter pin.
well done

Just pulled my blade kit out of a cabinet, haven't used it in years. This was great for helping get it reinstalled since I lost my original instructions. Great video at perfect pace.
