Cat hang mountain climbers are a useful movement for beginners who need more core/grip/pulling strength to get that first climb-up. Ultimately, CH mountain climbers prep you for harder climb-up/dyno drills like CH pull-ups, CH knee drives, & CH dynos.

CH mountain climbers also build comfort/skill in both CH sides/positions (right foot high + left foot high). Most people prefer the feel of 1 CH stance or the other but the best athletes are good at both. As usual in parkour, it's good to be ambidextrous, even in your CH stance/footwork.
