100 years of experience, you can't tell me these people don't know how to make more durable and reliable car. They just choose not to. It's business.

What made me think these brands are unreliable? Hmm working for AAA and seeing BMWs Benz and Audi that just plain won't run over and over and over again. Parts made out of plastic. Run flat tires that actually go flat and leave people stranded. I could go on and on.

I agree with you maintenance is very important but they could build a car that is half reliable as Toyota or Honda

Hello, I'm a car Mechanic from America for 27 years now. I want to tell the reason why people think German cars like BMW, Mercedes and Audi are not reliable anymore like it used to be in the past. During my years as a car Mechanic I have repaired countless German cars as well as Japanese and American cars. One remarkable case I saw during the years were, German car mileage were mostly manipulated compared to Japanese and American cars. You wouldn't believe how many cars mileage are manipulated if I would tell you. Its a big crime which is not loudly spoken. Lots of cars with over 250k to 300l mileage were sold as 100k mile. Why? Because German cars have the most profit margin. A used BMW with 100K gives you insane more cash than a BWM with 250K mileage. Beside of that I saw many people who actually can't afford a car buy a BMW or Mercedes 3rd, 4th hand etc. and skip maintaining it. If they maintain it, they do the minimal maintain.

The reason I think they are unreliable is because I always see them on the side of the road. BMW especially.

I drive Japanese cars so I won't have to worry about wasting money on maitence. German cars come with all kinds of cost

They always have been garbage it’s just the people that buy them can pay to to fix them.

Thing is, you want to drive like you are in the fast and the furious in a german car. You dont want that in your hyundai tucson

Maintenance means a lot of things. Not just the oil change. Exactly my thoughts

A chap I know used to by a new BMW every couple of years, as a company car.
He got fed up with the dealer charges for doing even the smallest of jobs on it.
He now gets Fords.

My Passat has 300, 000 miles because I properly take care of her. I bet American cars could potentially get this much life if you took care of them. Or any other nation. Even Volvo can get awesome lifespans and they're known to be a junk brand in USA. It's just because people buy the cheapest gas and don't change oil often enough.

I had pre-owned e90 2006 model .... fucking hell was it in a bad condition. I only had the car for 3 months before i ditched it because of multiple problems and maintenance cost. I love the brand in general like the design ec. but reliability does not go well with BMW brand ... when I was doing my research it seems like the same issues keep coming back with every new generation in particular the engine problems especially leaks EVERYWHERE !!!! timing chane problems, vanos, water pump and so on fucking hell

According to most mechanics, German cars are now unreliable and/or very expensive to maintain.

I'm speaking from experience and I would love to be able to buy an S8 again without worrying about so many electrical problems happening and yeah they're fun to drive when they're not in the shop don't get me wrong German cars are fun to drive but they put Innovation ahead of reliability which they should never have done in my opinion!

They should release a car every 3 years instead of yearly.

Then why do german cars regurgitate parts that are known to be bad into the new models a new vw now has parts that have been in use for 10 years or more with known design faults
