This is SO dumb. Varys had been lying, sneaking, and backstabbing for 30 years at this point, for the greater good.

That’s what people don’t understand. Yes he’s a man but he’s only led armies not lords and courts. He doesn’t know how to deal with them, the highborn. Varys problem is that he’s arrogant, he thinks he knows what’s best for everyone.
