I got laid off the same day as Chloe. I know I should be frantically looking for a new job but I’ve decided to be irresponsible n use up my savings so I can take a mental break. 2024 is the year living without guilt if I need time for myself. It’s ok to take a step back n reevaluate. I hope u find a new job soon Chloe but don’t settle. U got this!

Write down notes on everything you did at the job, whilst your memory is still fresh! Imagine having to tell an interviewer, 8 months from now, random details like - how many people you worked with on a certain project, how many pages the funky report you wrote was, etc etc.

I've been laid off 3 times, always always found another job. My last layoff was just as lockdown started, got a new job 1 week later, work from home for a great company, still in the role, Everything will be ok.

I laugh as a panic response. I always preface people with that when something very overwhelming is happening. I literally- physically cannot stop smiling. You're not alone 💚💚

Interview prep hell.
Omg I felt that.
After 24 years of steady work I found myself out of a job with 10 years to go to retirement extremely afraid I would not find a place to hire me at 57 years old.
I had to learn a whole new way of applying and interviewing. My daughter helped me with my resume and how to get it noticed thru screening and my networking opened many doors that otherwise would be closed.
I ended up working in my field for my state and the pay is a bit less over the next ten years it will quickly grow to where it should be plus I will qualify for a small pension and I was able to convert my 401k into an investment fund here. The best perk is the medical is cheeper and way better than what I had.
So don’t over look that state job people. Especially if you are older.

I just got laid off last week. I love to see your positivity! Praying all of us who got laid off can find a job soon!

Email any work stuff you want to keep to your personal email!! Like any positive feedback, contact info for mentors, etc. (Obviously make sure it has no sensitive NDA type info first!!) Also any metrics-based information about past projects like timelines, client impact, etc. (again as long as not sensitive) That way you can have a list of stuff to talk about in interviews and good data to use when negotiating. Good luck with your future!!!

Sending so much love to everyone who was laid off or lost their job. This world is not as easily and kind as it should or could be, but giving grace to each other and to ourselves is a start at changing that. Take care ❤

I lost my first "big and serious" job about a month ago, and that was a sign for me to change something in my life. I started learning design and got a new job in digital marketing (I used to work in real estate)
I stumbled upon your channel just today and seeing a person going through similar things in life makes me feel really motivated and optimistic about my future

The fact that you got hate for that… I immediately understood why you were smiling, because I have that same defence mechanism. I smile when I feel like crying in front of people because I don’t feel like I’m allowed to let them know my baggage. If I cry too easily I’ll only be hated for it. Plus it’s honestly just embarrassing to me 😅

A career transition firm that I worked with after my layoff had a good suggestion on creating SOAR stories from your past (work mostly) to cover questions most new jobs ask about for how you handled various situations.

S - Situation, O - Obstacles, A - Actions you took, R - Results.

I came up with 12 that covered most examples I wanted to share about myself. Dealing with difficult people, a task where I didn't know everything at the start, mistakes made and then corrected, etc...

Good luck to you.

I got laid off last year. What I initially felt as sadness, quickly turned into relief. I’d never lost a job before, so I feel like I needed to experience it at some point. But the same day I got laid off, I had a job interview lined up for a bartending position. Honestly, it’s been the most relaxed I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m 32, and it took so long for me to know what not being stressed out at a job feels like. I’m late to the video, but good luck on your job hunt. Hopefully, you find something that brings you joy! 😊

I’m a doomsday prepper. I have no reason to believe I’ll be laid off anytime soon, but I have a 3 year emergency fund. Should be long enough for me to find a new job.

I'm currently just a university student and everyday I always fear about what's to come after graduation! I'm deeply sorry for anyone who has to go through lay offs or just struggling to find a new job for a while. I hope my wishes for all of you reading this will help you on your journey. I know you all got this! Also please prioritize your mental health and well being for this new year and stay strong! Especially you chloe. I discovered your channel today and your character really enlightens me. Can't wait to be a fan for the long run! :D

O wow! This is super responsible and thoughtful! I got laid off from 2 corporate fashion jobs and did not think of most of these details. Super smart to prioritize doc appts while you still have health insurance!

I updated my resume and planned/executed interstate moves. (In both cases I only moved to the city for the job )

the 2nd time I got laid off I was already researching yoga teacher certification so I was able to start a training program 2 months after the layoff.

I got fired in January. I worked in a place where I enjoyed the people that were around me. I also have always been a great student and I thought I worked well too. I went to a period of immense shock, shame, angst and depression. I really thought my life ended. If there is something I learned from this process is that life does not end and there are many things besides work. Of course, in my case I didn't have a lot of money saved which made everything worst. I hope everyone can understand this is something that people often go through, and this does not necessarily mean that you are not good at what you do. Right now my self-steem is really not in its best shape but I'll simply do everything I can to turn this situations around. I always love to see people who overcome their troubles. They feel much more interesting that the ones who had no troubles at all. Stay strong everyone!
