This was such a great video! I was wondering if you had any tips about traveling with health issues? I was comfortable traveling alone but now it feels different. I have head pain, migraines, occasional brain fog and plenty of meds to keep track of. I loved the tip about how to get meds in advance. I was wondering if you have anything else you would like to share?

I recently left a toxic/abusive relationship. I went on a Solo trip a few days ago. I loved it! I felt so empowered! knowing I can do this, I can be happy doing things alone. I kept thinking of you! Thinking about taking a longer trip soon!

This was so helpful. As a rule I am comfortable being alone but solo travel has been a little intimidating. I just retired and was looking forward to traveling with my husband of 38 years. Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly in July. Realistically, I will need to travel solo since as you said there won't always be someone to travel with. I've always been independent so I do believe I can do this but it is definitely out of my comfort zone. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I am right there with you…been traveling by myself for both business and pleasure since I was 26 and I’m 57 now! It is by far the best thing to experience and I always have an amazing time and I’ve never felt unsafe because I’m very aware of my surroundings and as an American I do NOT want to stand out like a sore thumb. I moved to Ireland by myself 21 years ago and plan to retire somewhere in the Mediterranean. It has been life changing and so empowering. Let me know if you ever come to Dublin and want to say hi! Keep doing what you’re doing….it will keep you young and strong and beautiful!

Solo travel is absolutely it. I have really severe generalised anxiety disorder & travelling alone has shown me how brave I can be, & tbh my intrinsic need to plan works very well with travelling alone

i absolutely agree with everything in this wonderful video. i have solo travelled to 2 locations (florida and South Korea) and plan on doing more.

as a woman, i feel we are taught to wait for others/do things with others and let others make decisions for us. so once i started traveling solo, i felt extremely empowered. i researched, planned and paid for my own trip all on my own. if i had waited for people to come with me, i would not have gone to south korea at all and would have missed a once in a lifetime opportunity.

i started small, traveling within the US where i’m from (to florida) for a short 4 day weekend to eat at restaurants and sit at the beach. take myself parasailing and go to an aquarium and feed flamingoes.

then i traveled to south korea to see BTS (won a ticket to see them) and explore the country. i didn’t know the language but i chose south kore bc it was rated as one of the safer places for solo female travel, they recently had the olympics there which meant that there would be more major things in english. as a big international city, they have long had english signs for the things you need - train, street signs, airports, major malls. most people know very basic english and if not are very helpful otherwise. in the hanok village, there are “red angels” who wear read and help direct tourists to the village and hand out maps and of course speak english.

what helped me:
- watch 4k street walking videos (for south korea there are youtubers like seoul walker who film a couple of hours just walking around town. this helped me feel like the destination wasn’t so scary and foreign to me, and you can get an idea of what street, metro and traffic signs look like)
- know the addresses of everywhere you’re going (download a waze like app. for south korea, they use naver and it gives you all the details to get right to the front door even on foot!)
- get an international wall outlet port and get a long 6’ cord. every country, s outlet is different and they’re affordable on amazon. make sure yours is sturdy bc you don’t know if the socket is in the wall on flat on the ground
- have the phone number and address for your country, s embassy nearest to your hotel. they can help you in emergencies, that’s what they’re there for
- absolutely agree, walk with purpose. hagglers and stranger dangers won’t bother as much as someone who looks like an easy target

please don’t feel embarrassed about traveling alone. like taylor said, it’s more a reflection of yourself than what other people are thinking. i always applaud people doing their own thing, and people are too busy in their own world to notice if you’re eating by yourself. if you spend all your time waiting for others to join you, you’ll end up missing your opportunity (i have one too many times and now i travel and do most things myself for the freedom of choice and empowerment). if i waited for someone to join me in south korea (especially covid happening a few months after my trip, effectively shutting down the country), i wouldn’t have been able to overlook the seoul7017 bridge at midnight and marvel how i got here all by myself.

safe travels all! the world is beautiful, go explore!

I've solo travelled a few times and I have to say I did feel very awkward eating out alone at first, but it was totally the opposite. Most wait staff love solo people, easy to serve and usually tip well. Loved being able to read my book waiting for the food to come out 😊 I'm an introvert with chronic health issues as well so I loved being able to just go back to the hotel and chill if I was too tired or in pain

Agree on the “start small” advice. I did my first solo trip to Hawaii (from SoCal so the plane ride wasn’t so long) and it was a great experience

I did a nearly four week cross-country road trip by myself for my 40th birthday and it was the best gift I ever gave myself. I'm trying to plan a second one in the next year or two to hit the parts of the country that I didn't have time to see (or even drive through) on my first trip. I'm planning a spring trip by myself - no idea where I'm going at this point, but I'm going! Can't wait. 😀 I love to see you taking this journey and encouraging others to explore too! ❤

The Google tips were super important on my trip too - I drove through some very desolate areas and so I had to plan well in advance where to stop for gas and stuff so I never ran out in the desert or something, and it helped my friends and family feel better that they could look at their Google maps and see where I was at any given time, and I felt better knowing that if something ever happened, people would know where to look for me.

I can’t wait until my youngest kid gets a little older and I can solo travel! I enjoy my own company more than anyone else’s so ideal for me!

HA HA! I’m first! 🌻
Short story on traveling alone… I went to Kauai, Hawaii for a week vacation. Fell madly in love, went back home sold everything, 42 days later I moved there and stayed 9 years. Best 9 years of my life! (so far….)

I'm on a solo trip right now, feeling so much more confident just doing my own thing. You have inspired me so much with all of your adventures this year 🥰 it's so good to see a woman in her 20s/30s just doing whatever she wants to do.

As someone who is also has chronic pain/illness, I'd love to see a travel video regarding preparing, maintaining, and coping with that. I've really enjoyed watching your nomad life. Looks like so much fun!

I just did a solo trip this past weekend and it has made me feel like my old self and confident since moving overseas. I made mistakes but figured it out. It’s crazy how different I felt after doing that.

I went to a music festival by myself and had probably the best weekend of my life. All of these tips apply to going to music fests solo too. It was so nice not having to worry about other people and what they wanted to do. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

I looooveee eating by myself and shopping by myself. Sometimes at work I invent issues to avoid invitation to lunch.

To build on the benefits, and tied to what you shared on independence: It's a great way to build on your own sovereignty and sense of self. Learning how to be alone gives you that space to learn who you really are, what's important to you, and who you want to be as a person. Women are taught to be dependent on men and scared of solo travel. Also, many people (not just women) are afraid to be alone. Usually that means there are unresolved things that we're afraid to sit with. That's so understandable and normal- and is robbing us of true fulfillment and happiness.

Going on my first solo trip to Berlin soon for my bday! First time traveling solo without family or study abroad. I’m 19 so it’s my first trip alone. So excited & finally feel like I’m closer to independence 🥰
