Malaysia is an absolutely class country which is often over looked by many backpackers (probably because it doesn't have the drinking culture which some asian countries have) but you can still find a good party, its ridiculously cheap, its stunning and there's so much to see and do! KL is brilliant and East malaysia (Borneo etc) is also brilliant.

Great tips Joel mate.
Being from the UK myself, SE Asia is my favourite region for travel. I have been to Malaysia 5 times, Thailand 4 times, Singapore 3 times, Philippines and Indonesia twice each. I am hoping to go to Indonesia again, Malaysia and Thailand one more time, and Vietnam for the very first time. SE Asia has everything to offer with amazing megacities, mountains, waterfalls, stunning tropical beaches, various cultures and religious sites, incredible jungles and fauna, and amazing food. My top 3 favourite cities visited are KL, Bangkok and Singapore, and Jakarta is high on the list too

I live in Asia, it's great to hear how the foreigners think of travelling to Asia, how they make the best use of the surviving skill to mingle around the areas.

what a great video! another tip - I also land up saving up on unnecessary expenses like atm fees etc in south east asia - using apps like ATM Fee Saver - it helps find atms abroad with no fees or lower fees than others along with withdrawal limits etc. worth adding to your list of tricks!

I'm thinking of flying into Hanoi around November with a folding bike and cycling around into Laos and Thailand for around 3 months or so. Planning on bringing some light camping gear to have the option to camp when I want to save a few bucks and have a little adventure in the countryside.
