Welcome to another episode of The Tim Ferriss Show, where it is my job to sit down with world-class performers of all different types—from startup founders and investors to chess champions to Olympic athletes. This episode, however, is an experiment and part of a shorter series I’m doing called “Books I’ve Loved.” I’ve invited some amazing past guests, close friends, and new faces to share their favorite books—the books that have influenced them, changed them, and transformed them for the better. I hope you pick up one or two new mentors—in the form of books—from this new series and apply the lessons in your own life.

About Tim Ferriss:

The Observer and other media have named him “the Oprah of audio” due to the influence of his podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show, which has exceeded 500 million downloads and been selected for “Best of Apple Podcasts” three years running.

My favorite quote from Schopenhauer states that the capacity to tolerate noise is inversely proportional to the intelligence of the individual. Glad for his sake that he didn't have to experience today's cacophony. Thanks for this series; I've gotten a lot out of it.

That's another problem. When you go for a walk, just walk and do some soul searching... "The unexamined life is not worth living." Listening to a book is not reading a book. Big difference. I don't understand why people think that listening equals reading.

19. "All progress takes place outside the comfort zone."

-- Michael John Bobak

20. "People who succeed have momentum. The more they succeed, the more they want to succeed, and the more they find a way to succeed. Similarly, when someone is failing, the tendency is to get on a downward spiral that can even become a self-fulfilling prophecy."

Unless you've read Ken Wilber you shouldn't be reading anything else.
