I cut the that shitty tail off mine all the time, but I use a little known utensil called SCISSORS!! Much less chance of blood. I do recommend them. You can pick them up in most good supermarkets, newsagent, or office supply store. Try them. Let me know how you get on!!

Just buy Zulu straps and not nato. Problem solved.
