How this Guy Makes the World’s Smallest Handmade Sculptures | Obsessed | WIRED

Imagine making a sculpture so tiny, your eyelash is the paintbrush. Dr. Willard Wigan MBE, does just that. He makes the world's smallest handmade sculptures and the results truly incredible. A tiny replica of the Mona Lisa, smaller than the top of a matchstick? Check. A realistic replica of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury standing on the head of a pin? Yes. What else? The rest has to be seen to be believed.

This was just incredible. Not just the staggering patience of him as an artist, but his whole point of view. His mention of the bee and how there is so much life in the tiniest of things.

His art is breathtaking. The skill this man has is insane, but looking that good at 65 is even more impressive

This guy is so amazing, it's the least I could do to carve out a tiny bit of time to watch this.

this person should be cast in Ant-Man Quantumania immediately

Fun fact, a human egg cell is about 100 microns in diameter, so that baby sculpture could actually fit inside one.

I can’t even imagine the amount of patience and talent it takes to do something like this repeatedly!! He’s absolutely incredible i don’t know how this is the first time I’ve learned about him. He’s incredible 👏🏽👏🏽

As a sculptor, I am blown away. It is hard enough to sculpt at normal scale. To maintain proportion at that scale...just wow.

This guy is undoubtedly the best in the world at what he does; not a lot of people can say that. I doubt he’ll ever have an equal too.

I've seen these artworks before, and always assumed that they were made using a micromanipulator, a machine that scientists use to manipulate very small things like cells. I can't even imagine how far above average his fine motor control must be. Even a steady hand looks shaky under a microscope.
