Fun fact, this happens because of how the internal breeding mechanics and the glitched nature of the bosses internal data. Palworld breeding assigns every pal a number based on its species' rarity and strength, with the strongest and rarest pal (jetragon) having a value of zero, and chikipi having the highest value (somewhere around 2000.) The game then averages the two parent values, giving an egg of the pal with the value closest to the average. But the bosses weren't meant to be obtained, so their values don't work right. this results in some wacky stuff, wherein most of the time, it will hatch a chikipi. But, allegedly, since they are still listed as members of the said species, Mixing the boss with a normal variant should give you another normal version, and mixing the boss with one of the 'activator' pals for the special type fusions (ignis, noct, etc.) will give you the fusion version of the normal pal. This is because having no actual value, the game assumes the highest possible value, that being much higher than anything else- so high, tht even with the rarest pal in the game, jetragon (with a value of zero) you will still get a chikipi, because the average of zero and theoretical infinity is higher than 2000.
