The UK chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has announced that the furlough scheme put in place during lockdown will start to change from August, when employers will be asked to resume paying their staff's national insurance and employer pension contributions. They will then have to pay 10% of wages in September and 20% in October

My son had 7 interviews in Glasgow, flat hunting at the same time . He was about to complete his mission when 'lockdown' happened . He is now on Jobseeker's Allowance and no sign of jobs being offered from previous interviews . He is a post grad in multi media Ex Napier. And a experienced supervisor in store.

Thats fine as long as all buisness are allowed to trade by September. However if the government still has restrictions in place it wouldn't be fair. My girlfriend works in a pub / restaurant and they seem to be struggling already. If they have to start paying and cant operate then they will go bust and i doubt it would be likely she would be able to find work as not manh places will be recruiting. I think the plans should be more fluid alot like borris has said about lifting lockdown. Borris states he will lift lockdowm as long as the r stays down. Why dont we end the furthough scheme only in sectors which can reopen by there own accord? For exsample if lesuire buisness can reopen reduce the scheme for a month and then end it after that.
