Coronavirus latest: MILLIONS of workers who are still receiving Covid emergency wage support are facing uncertainty as the government's furlough scheme ends today.

The wage support scheme has helped bosses who have struggled during the pandemic to continue paying their staff, but there are now warnings of job losses once the payments end.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak unveiled the coronavirus job retention scheme, known as furlough, at the start of the coronavirus outbreak in March 2020.

The idea was that the government would support companies hit by the pandemic and lockdowns, meaning bosses could get help paying salaries and staff could keep their jobs even if the business was unable to open.

Almost 9 million workers were furloughed in May 2020 and this has now dropped to 1.6 million.

The idea was that employers would apply for help from HMRC to pay 80% of staff wages, up to £2,500 a month.

This was initially fully covered by the Government, but companies had to start contributing 10% in July and 20% in August.

Mr Sunak has rejected calls to extend the furlough end date.

*1) It's unfair how things has turned up to be ever since the outbreak of Covid things has really changed*

*2) we see complains here and there in the Media from different people in different countries all around the world*

*3) The government has less or no time for their people anymore*

*4) My advice is that we all should try to fix ourselves in different things to earn a better living hope on God and not the government*

Rich get richer, poorer get poorer. No doubt many "hard up" company bosses have screwed the system as always happens.

*They should investigate the companies which is still only furlough even after every business has been allowed to open*

Thank God! Join the rest of us that's not had anything all way through and had to go out like zombies while the furloughed have been paid for doing nothing.

The dislikes are probably the people who were on furlough, and now realise they got to work again, but hey you have no job now, time to sign on.

I'm afraid I have no sympathy. People on furlough were the main culprits for overwhelmingly supporting lockdowns and closures continuing far beyond the initial "flattening the curve" period.

The rest of us have suffered because selfish people were getting paid well to stay at home, so now they can suffer a bit of reality backlash themselves. Enjoy being unemployed, you begged for it.

Scary times for many people who were literally being kept on to keep getting furlough. Will see the true colours or at least true Financials of Businesses and employers now. Many people will lose their homes. Unemployment through the roof. It will have a knock on effect.

I haven't had a penny out of the furlough scheme. Been working since the start of lockdown and yet I and many other people like myself will still have to pay.
