Personally, I just simplify everything as much as possible. Country A signed a treaty with country B so they can agree that City C will be governed by Country A. And for me the context is super easy to recall (they were fighting over trading location) and then you can write a good answer (at least at my level).

For science esp, simplifying things rly rly help at lower level. A force is push and pull. 5 people pulling will win the 2 people pulling.
