when I follow your steps precisely ...it just makes the background white colored. Its doesnt add the white and gray checker pattern for transparency. I tested on many pictures Im trying to do this with.

:55 I have the gray grid when i open paint and try to draw and edit/ move anything. i dont have to put in a image to see it, just cut or move anything i drew. how do i make that go away?
