I fully support a new DE being added into the mix instead of everything being GTK/KDE (-based), this will be a huge addition to the ecosystem, giving users even more choice making their system their own. That said, I prefer tiling WM with mostly terminal-based workflow, and I have yet to see anything compelling that has convinced me it would be worth switching to. I will definitely give it a try once it reaches a stable release, though.

I hope that software installer gets an "update all" function. Also I still wonder how it will handle QT apps. Theres so much about cosmic that makes me skeptical about it being a viable desktop and it just feels like Unity all over again.

This is the first time I’m seeing this. I like what I see. If they port all accessibility features over from GNOME (Orca, magnifier, high contrast, large print), I’m going to be very happy. System76 recently said accessibility is a top priority for them so this makes me very excited. :-)

No matter how many times I distrohop. I always end up on Pop. Darn, I'm really excited to finally see Cosmic. Good development, good Wayland + Nvidia integration.

I never thought I could believe in a company as much as I do on them. Probably because they're more like a big community where their computers feel more like fighting for an idea more than for money. And getting a computer from them would feel more like a big donation.

I really hope they don't change at least for a long time. It's also good to have Michael (dev). Astonishing guy, always helping the community.

I really hope I can get some money to get one of their computers. Long live free hardware and free software!

Great video. I'm an avid KDE user, but I'm interested in seeing she Cosmic DE has to offer.

I tried cosmic recently and as a gnome user, wow does it feel at home. The tiling is amazing, by far the best on any DE (obviously tiling window managers are better but that's not really a fair comparison). I can actually have the top bar on multiple windows, which is a huge oversight on gnome. In terms of looks, its difficult to beat adwaita/gnome but cosmic looks great.

Its not usable right now, things are not working, but I can see cosmic becoming my main de when its done.

The Pop Shop and all the variations of Gnome software center are terrible. Hopefully this will be decent. One thing it seems to be missing is filters. For example filtering by package type.

It is so great and modular, that I hope the many gnome clones DEs will switch to a simply customized cosmic DE instead, and spend new resources into polishing it.

This looks great. I hope their tiling, workspace switcher and keyboard shortcuts can be mapped to be the same as i3/sway.
