You quite quickly went past the resolution and scaling section. Would be really interested if and how it does fractional scaling and how applications react to fractional scaling.

workspaces are working fine on mine. I'm on a Asus VivoBok with all AMD cpu/gpu. Absolutely no bugs 👍

Apps that sit in the system tray normally won't reopen for me after I close a window (Discord and Steam, for example)

Another bug: you cannot resize your swap after initial installation: when you reboot, it resets your swap configuration to the way you set it during installation.

Tried running the Cosmic 24 .iso file under Boxes on Fedora 40. I had similar issue with workspaces.

I then installed the Cosmic Alpha to Fedora 40 itself, following the instructions linked on the Sytem76 page. (Simple two-line install. Enable repository and then dnf install)

I can now switch back and forth between Gnome and Cosmic on the Fedora login screen.

I simply can not believe just how well Cosmic Alpha code works on Fedora 40. I had a minor issue with a Brave browser error code at first, but it has resolved. As far as I can tell, my Fedora Gnome apps, settings, etc all work fine under Cosmic. I'm a Cosmic newbie and have a lot to learn, but I'm going to try using Fedora40/Cosmic as my daily driver. I expect to have issues, but it is astonishingly smooth so far.

If I get any show-stoppers, all I have to do is logout and switch back to Gnome.

Highly recommended!

Cool. Thank you. This is a distro I haven't given any time, but have been curious about. I'm not thinking that I'll use it instead of Debian-esque distros. I think I enjoy LMDE best at this point.

This trend of putting tiling in an environment clearly designed for floating windows is just so weird to me.

But will it support gnome extensions? And if, as I assume, it won't, will it support its own extensions to make it usable, or are you stuck with a default gnome clone?
For example, without dash-to-panel and arcmenu, (modern) gnome isn't worth using. Cosmic is going to need something similar to emulate that sweet redmond ui, because this default ui doesn't cut it for me.

This one sucks!
I liked their old version and I was going to use it last week... but when I downloaded the ISO I got this rainbow vomit.
This takes too much energy to find what I need.

Switching to debian and kde is a wise choice
