How to choose an electric guitar? This is the Ultimate Electric Guitar Buying Guide - settle in because you're about to learn a whole lot about electric guitars and what to look for when you're purchasing one.

The price of the electric guitar alone doesn't indicate whether or not it is going to be better than another one; you really need to know what to look for when you actually have the instrument in your hands. A cheap guitar can end up playing just as well as a more expensive one, although as a general rule of thumb your are still going to get what you paid for.

With the things you'll learn in this Electric Guitar Buying Guide though, you'll be well equipped to judge whether any new or used electric guitar is worth your time and investment.

Checked out your video. It was very nicely done. You delivered a lot of useful information in a relaxed conversational format. The length was a little long, but if anyone willing to invest the time AND LISTEN will learn a lot. Thanks for taking the time to record this.

Man, you know, first of all I like your video and I think it's pretty valuable for a beginner, even though I believe it's hard to them to catch your point, but also it's a way to them to grow up in the subject. I'm not a beginner, I've been playing guitar for the last 17 years and I have: one semi hollow Ibanez, 2 Washburn N4, 1 RG Ibanez, 1 Fender Strat with 52/62 pickup, 1 Fender Strat with Tom Anderson pickups, a Tom Anderson Tele and a Gibson Studio, beside other 3 acoustic guitar and an Yamaha bass. That's the reason I understand every single point on your video and I totally agree with 100% of them. Congratulations and people should thank you for your time on making this video.

I really enjoyed this seemingly endless ramble about electric guitars.Like the other fellow who wrote before me, I am also 52 and have been playing since age 13.I also have a collection numbering around 44 guitars and amongst them, a Supro Coronado Archtop, A Guild t 100 and a Maccaferri plastic gypsy guitar.Somehow you strike me as my Canadian twin.

I'm 52 and been playing since I was 15 and I've had to how to work on my guitars too, and you hit the nail right on the head with this great advise.

The only thing I'd tell a beginner is to buy the best guitar they can. I feel that the best guitar you can buy allows you to play better. One should be able to concentrate on the music and not fighting the guitar so much.

I should say the best guitar that you can buy that will setup correctly and sounds decent. Should be able to sustain or resonate in your hands, and or against your body and, without the amp and you should be able to feel it basically. Then you know you have a good guitar if all else is in working order, and it's setup well and you like the tone of the guitar plugged in. The amp matters a lot too and the cords and pickups and picks, etc, .

I remember playing with guitars that felt like I was pushing barbed wire against a fence post the action was so high when I first started with the cheapy guitar I had! hehe..

Todays guitars are much better than what we had available in the 70's. You have CNC machines that make everyone a good guitar maker at least basically compared to the old days..

Thanks so much for the lessons and advise.

The advice you told your student when looking for a guitar really struck a light in me. I went looking for my 1st electric guitar (I've been playing guitar for a little over a year now) And I went into a local guitar shop where I live, and felt totally clueless, but the next time I go into a guitar shop i'm going to use the advice you gave in this video. Thanks so much :)

If you are looking to learn from scratch or to improve your guitar skills, rockstar 2014 is absolutely fantastic! Would recommend 100%

Yes, he does digress. After all, he could be earning.  He could be playing.  He could be fixing.  Instead, he's teaching, and teaching free-for-nothin'.  It was well worth it today to ignore RiffNinja's. desultory style and sort through his notes on tremolo/"whammy" bars. It would be a privilege to sit with this man and ask him a question just to get him started.  By definition, you never know what you'll get for your question.  By example, whatever you get from RiffNinja will be worth both your money and your time.
