ABOUT ME

Hey! My name is Darryl Syms, and uh, well, I play guitar! I mean, I do a bunch of other cool things too - hopefully you can get to know me a little bit more through some of my videos.

On this channel, I predominantly post instructional videos to help inspire and encourage like-minded guitar players. My goal is to help you expand your musical vocabulary, to broaden your understanding of music, and to entertain. There are already thousands of guitar related videos out there, but I try to set my videos apart from the usual by exploring a modern approach, and by simply being myself! 💁♂️

I hope you enjoy what I have to offer, and I look forward to growing as a musician with you!

Thanks so much for reading! 💜

Very true. I started on electric and when I went to acoustic, I realized how weak my hands were.

My first guitar was an acoustic and everything I played sounded like shit; It was ruining my interest in the hobby altogether.
Last week at my friend's birthday party he let me try his electric and everyone including myself couldn't believe how good it sounded.
Night and day.
Electric has got to be the way to go for beginners.

A YouTube video that gets right to the point, doesn't drag it out and answers the question in the title? Impossible.

I never got used to the body of the acoustic guitar, being big and hard (obvious "she said" joke) to get my arms around. Also heard that the electric guitar has easier strings to hold down as well. As somebody who is really into hard rock/metal music, I want to get an electric, but being with my acoustic for 8 years, I have little interest in playing it much aside from "when I feel like it" and is afraid of wasting money on an electric only to not bother with it the same way.

I had an electric guitar several times in the beginning and I didn’t learn much. Had problems with the amp connection etc. but with the acoustic I learned chords fast and could just pick it up and play. Much easier.

Wow.... simple but great advice. I just came from watching another channel that said the electric guitar can be difficult for beginners due to all the cables, pedals, etc.... I was like Anyways, this video has helped me choose the electric guitar. I'll be picking it up again since I quit playing 20 years ago lol...

I've always loved johnny cash's music aswell as old folk music so i got an acoustic. And if I ever go to electric it will feel like a walk in the park because of my experience with accoustic

I’ve always been a fan of acoustic but I’ve been playing both for bout 20 years on and off now and I’m 28 atm I have a fender A/E but I’m getting a electric next month and I love the fact I can take my acoustic everywhere and it makes it also easier to learn things you didn’t allready know from strangers cause you can just hand them your guitar and they can show you stuff they know and hand it right back to you lol

i RUINED my learning time at age 15 by getting a shit large electroacoustic guitar on reccomendation of shop (they only want to sell ) . its action rose month later and it became unbearable unmotivational to play . now 7 years later i'm coming back to learning guitar, got myself a CHEAP electric guitar with HSS pickup and cheap amp . YOU REALLY SEE THE MOTIVATION MAINTAINED AND HYPE SUSTAINED with an electric guitar, especially in young people . cause when u see an electric guitar, you just wanna move its string and feel like a rockstar, THAT STUFF WORKS

One time I learned how to slap on an acoustic guitar but I started dreaming of electric guitars. Usually I would prefer both.
