Also: a guitar stand for your guitar to rest between practice sessions. A gig bag for bringing your guitar to lessons. A good pair of headphones for your amp (ear buds won't do) so you can practise scales over and over without driving your family nuts. Guitar-care supplies like body polish, and fretboard cleaner and conditioner. Spare strings. Extra picks. A few simple tools for maintenance. And so on.

I use to be able to play things like walk by pantera and nothing else matters by metallica blindfolded, performed many times and now back to the basics as I haven't touched a guitar in over 10 years.

Incredibly helpful video. You literally talk to us like this is the first guitar we have ever seen in our life, which helps dunces like me that want to get into it. This definitely helped push me to finally make that purchase and start learning

I have 34 guitars, ranging from expensive Gibsons to cheap Squeirs. I would like to give a word of advise to beginners. Please do not believe that more expensive means better!
I love Epiphones, and, like Andy, my favorite guitar is an Epi LP PRO Plus. The pickups sound GREAT, I do not find any need for upgrade. (BTW I have upgraded an American De Luxe fender Tele as I found the noiseless pick ups it had were dull....the guitar cost 1600+ bucks...)
I have a Strat Bullet Squier (99 eu) that sounds as good as some MIM Fenders (only thing I changed is tuners, they were crap)
I could entertain you with the problems I had with my Gibsons, none of which was free of flaws or defects, whereas all Epi's came absolutely PERFECT out of the box. This would take too long.

I agree with Andy also on the "best guitar is the one that you pick up and makes you feel like playing". Again, as owners of 30+ guitars, some I find myself playing for not more that 15', then I switch to others with which I feel more comfortable or sound better.
