Installing the Unhinged Gameboy Advance SP Mod

I took the plunge and forked out big bucks for Boxy Pixel's all-aluminum Gameboy Advance SP Unhinged mod. Not only does it upgrade your shell to a premium aluminum casing, but it also added a USB-C charging port, a larger 1700 mAH battery, and a headphone jack!

if the edges irritate you, stick it in a big jar with some walnut shells and tumble it for an hour, two, or five. just make sure to tape off the standoffs with several layers of aluminium tape so they don't get eaten away in the process. might want to do the same with the edge of the screen opening.

the shoulder button feel can be fixed if you use the springs from the sp. there are slots on the back casing that they fit into just like on the stock case. using them also fixes the issue with the buttons rattling

They also have a budget option now for 59 where u use the back shell. I wish the slate was in stock. I kind of like its looks slightly better. I never clips my pins just kapton tape.

It looks really good, and I like the improvements they came up with, but I'd rather go for the hinged model, and I see that they've got a brass shell for $170. That's a bit steep, so I'll have to think about it, but it sure looks good.

The Frame Blending works with games that use ‘shadows’ if it is turned off ‘shadows’ will flicker a lot.

Yea I wish someone made a plastic kit but they say its costly to make unless u 3d print. Def pricy. I got lucky and found a slighly used kit with most everything but screws and soulder buttons and the headphone jack for 75. Its all blue wish the buttons were offset color. But its all good. Luckily you can use oem shoulder buttons so prob do a blue and yellow Vegeta stlye theme. Cant wait to build tho.

I wonder if the GBA SP would fit into a Game Boy Pocket, that would be even cooler I feel like, though the L and R triggers will be problematic then I guess.

All I want is a gameboy advance in a DMG shell with a better ips screen. Can't stand the games sticking out the bottom/top of the gameboy advance.

I'll just stick with my modded gba I think the gba is way more comfortable than the SP
