Let's make this clear. Majority of the Filipino Muslims are in Mindanao but they are not the majority in Mindanao. Christians are still the majority in Mindanao.

Let me just say, the Philippines has a very unique shape compare to other countries. I'm very fascinated by how distinctive its shape is when you look at the map. I love my country so much!

One of the main geographic challenge is transportation - from one island to another and also the inland transpo which is characterized by heavy traffic... XD

Philippines has a geographic problem. They are made up of thousands of islands. If I was playing a video game and owned Philippines as a starting player, I would invest in a strong maritime to link up all the islands by water. It has to be easy to move around and move goods from island to island by water, it has to be the most efficient. I will invest in Public Administration, because moving around island to island poses a few problems that must be solved. Waterway traffic and schedule must be clockwork and efficient. The country’s bureaucratic system also has to be unique from other countries due to the nature of the geography, and must be on guard against red tape, taking into account the type of resources each unique island produces.

It is a great advantage not to share land borders with anyone, but that advantage can be greatly undermined by poor management. I say industrialize the northern island, move the cultural and trading aspect to the central islands and, emphasize heavy agriculture in the south. If every cell knows it's task, then it can be extremely efficient.

Yes. It is true. Filipinos has problems to be united with the difficulty of geography. The Philippines has different group of people with very different cultures and language. There are arguments that the Philippines should be federal state since it will be easier to stabilize the political environment of the country. Well, the other solution that I think of is to provide infrastructure like telecommunication, internet connection, ports, etc as the way to bring closeness of people.

As a Davaoeño, I tend to disagree with this video. Davao City is considered a highly urbanized city outside metro manila. I've been to Luzon, and metro manila is the only urbanized place in Luzon unlike in Mindanao, Davao City, Tagum City, Digos City, Gensan, Zamboanga City, Cagayan de Oro City and a lot more were more urbanized than the cities in Southern Tagalog (San Pablo City, Lucban, etc) and other region in Luzon. Those people from Luzon who have not yet come to Mindanao were ignorant of the highly urbanized cities in Mindanao.. hahaha #DavaoLifeIsHere #ProudDavaoeñoFilipino #DavaoCityKingCityofTheSouth

If you gain insight or an insight into a complex situation or problem, you gain an accurate and deep understanding of it. The project would give scientists new insights into what is happening to the Earth's atmosphere. 2. uncountable noun. If someone has insight, they are able to understand complex situations.

0:53 "...Mindanao is mostly populated by Muslim tribes...." I see that Stratfor is not doing proper research here. Mindanao is not majority Muslim, in fact, only the Eastern part is mostly Muslim, specifically the provinces of Sulu, Tawi-tawi, Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, and the City of Marawi. The vast majority of the people of Mindanao is Christian or animist practiced by the indigenous peoples of Mindanao.

The Philippines is an archipelago,
or string of over 7, 100 islands, in
southeastern Asia between the
South China Sea and the Pacific
Ocean. The two largest islands,
Luzon and Mindanao, make up for
two-thirds of the total land area.
Only about one third of the islands
are inhabited.

I'll admit that not having a land border is kind of a minus for our country. I feel like it isolates us from the rest of Asia.
