Cold air intakes are a cheap easy way to get in to modding your vehicle's engine. They are relatively inexpensive to obtain and require almost not skill or knowledge to instal.... And that is a bad thing! Because CAIs are cheap and easy, they have been misused and misunderstood for years!

Nope. I didn't do that when I was 18. I flipped the Secondary plates on my Quadrajet and flipped the air cleaner lid upside down with a longer A/F stud. THAT sound was GLORIOUS!!! Things are different now. A LOT different!

Honestly added an intake for a ctsv onto a cts base 06 and i left the sensor on but i didnt like how it made the engine over rumble lol learning more today!

What people don't realize is how detrimental they can be. Best example besides sensors left put would be the big ugly bellows or chambers built into the sides of the tubing. Especially in older cars, taking them off can hurt performance. But it does sound good.

I have a Rotofab CAI on my 2012 Caprice PPV 6.0L
DoD Delete
LS7 lifters
Stage1 Cam

Getting long tube headers next.

Reconsidering my CAI

Might get an OTA ram air setup.

It is essentially a G8 setup.

My air filter box screws are stripped. I was thinking about just replacing it with the intake.

I picked up the dana 44- 2 weeks ago for my 2000 wj, its been down for 4 years (long story) at the u pull ( garys, my favorite ) . well there was a complete cold air system and I forgot to take it, im not that big into cold air system but it would have been nice to have it on hand. I did grab the led tail lights for 30 $ ( there on amazon for 140$ ). Cant wait to get my jeep back on the road.

I was 22 when i unplugged the sensor when installing a CAI, car immediately started running funny so i knew to plug it back in

Luckily i had a 5.9 magnum. They dont run a mass air flow sensor in the intake tubing. It was built into the throttle body.

Sorry also on that 4.7 fuel is injected into the cylinder heads. Only air flows through that intake.

True cold air intake kit will add hp. Ive seen dyno results. when you throw a pipe and filter straight the engine bay now your sucking hot air. The stock cold air intake is just made to be a tad more restrictive than a performace cold air intake.

I like k&n but they are way way overpriced. I bought an $80 Cold Air Intake System and is just as functional as the $375 k&n cold air intake system.
