Hey Gross, follow these steps. One of them may help you out.

1. Make sure drivers are up to date
2. Go to your audio options in protools and make sure you've chosen the M-Audio ASIO driver
3. IF those do not work, make sure your sound card is enabled in your computers audio control panel -- Start>control click>enable

Hope that helps!

If you have a condenser microphone, you need to use phantom power. You also have to enable the microphone inside FL Studio. It's on the mixers IN (top right)

Thank you! Now I know how to use this with the old computer!

You don't technically "need" an audio interface, however, it allows for higher quality audio to be heard, and makes it easier to plug in microphones! (And have easier control over volume of speakers and microphones/instruments while recording).

You can hear things on the computer speakers, but reference monitor speakers allow you to accurately mix your music, where as computer speakers are pretty much just meant for listening! -- To hook up your turn table into your audio interface, mine is USB, so I just plug it in that way. You will want to plug in your turntable through RCA cables into the audio interface. My guess is you'll need a mixer to boost up the signal becuase it's usually very weak from a turntable!

Hey Searching, This is what you will need to do.
Your Axiom 49 (2nd Gen, or Pro), will connect to your computer with the USB cord that is provided.
Then you will need an audio interface to run pro tools I believe, and I think the C400 will do the job for what you're looking for!

The keyboard does not plug into the audio interface, but just directly into your computer.
If this does not help, ask away and we can troubleshoot!
Riley!

Minor update, Fast Track Pro was purchased by Avid as part of some sort of deal, they bought some of M-Audios Products, didn't buy others...Anyway, point is.. You have to go to Avid's website now.

Sure, but you will have to get TRS 1/4" to XLR, cause the front ports on the M-Audio Fast Track Pro are for microphones/instruments.

If you try to plug your speakers XLR to XLR on it, it will not work.

You either have to go XLR to TRS 1/4" or TRS 1/4" to TRS 1/4"

Sure!
Step 1. Download drivers
Step 2. plug in USB (I found 3.0 USB was buggy.. I'd stick to 2.0 USB).
Step 3. enable the soundcard within FL Studio itself. (Open FL Studio, hit F10, go to audio settings, and change it to ASIO, either the ASIO4ALL V2, or ASIO with the fast track pro).

Ya if it's XLR, you betcha! -- the Fast Track Pro also has Phantom Power! Check out their newer models!

Record from the speaker outputs on the keyboard into the audio interface with TRS 1/4" cables. Usually there are plugins in the back to do this -- Sometimes you have to go with RCA -- From there, you should be able to see audio when you play on your keyboard into your comp. Then just a matter of hitting record and play! (Best way is to probably record MIDI with it).

They give you a more accurate sound of what you are actually hearing rather than just computer speakers that come with your computer. You can get decently affordable ones that will help your mixing. But as you are first starting out, learning your program is most important. Have a scroll through the reviews at Beatstruggles to learn some tips and tricks about all this hardware stuff. I know how it is, it can be very challenging at first, but I got beatstruggles to help for that purpose!

Well yes it would be affected, you will be able to turn up and down the volume from the pre-amp. But the overall quality may be poor as it's not going through an audio interface! If that's the answer you are looking for! The ideal way would be to get an audio interface, then plug your pre-amp into that, giving you a high quality recording, plus being able to use the pre-amp as well!

Ya, I think you can. Plug it in RCA into the back, and you should be good to go.
Things to keep an eye on is turntables are very quiet unless the have a built in amp, or you have a mixer, then the audio interface so you can boost the volume to an enjoyable level. I think you also may need something like audacity to record your sample too! (I use the software that came with my turntable).

For the best budget home studio, spend the money on a Motu or a Focusrite interface IF you want to sample or record live sound because the inputs on those are much quieter than the Fast Track. If you're NOT serious about music or just want to TINKER around with toys, then this is a great TOY for that purpose. The reason why everyone has one and there are so many videos on this is because it's more affordable and most people are cheap.

It did, but you never use the disc for the drivers as the disc is usually out dated -- always download drivers off their website!

Hey Dickson,
Yes the Fast track pro COMES WITH a USB cable!
No, most microphones do not come with an XLR cable (some probably do, but you will have to purchase an XLR cable separately).
Also, watch my review on the fast track pro before purchasing!
Hope that helps!

Upon plugin, make sure to install the drivers off the website. From there, make sure to select it as an input in your audio software. This is usually found in the software's audio settings!

Hey Rudy, my guess is because you are recording in "mono". Try to find an option where it says "Fast Track Pro 1".. Also what you can do is just duplicate your vocal, then put it on your right speaker, making you have a stereo track. But try the first part !
