The word Guinea comes from Guinea, Conakry from the Susu tribe. the word “Guinee” means woman. when a group of Europeans arrived on the coast they meet some women washing clothes in an estuary. The woman Indicated to the man that they were woman. The Europeans misunderstood and thought the woman were referring to a geographic area; they subsequently used the word “Guinea” to describe coastal west Africa. ! PIN THIS !
